Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
He normally goes down at 6:30-7ish no problem. Tonight - he won't stop screaming on the top of his lungs everytime we put him down.
He has a full belly. Tylenol Humidifier on for noise Now - music that he likes.
What else can I do? I'm at a complete loss. Maybe next I'll just take him into bed with me and see if he falls asleep.

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
I was dealing with this, she just fell asleep about a half hour ago. It was rough! I would NOT bring him in your bed though. I think that's Emma's problem..I kept putting her in my bed and created this awful habit of her not being able to sleep in her crib.

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
Is he just not feeling well or is there somethign else going on? If he's not feeling well, I vote for taking him into your bed so he can get some sleep and so can you.

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
He does have a cold - maybe I should do the saline one more time? He actually sounds ok right now though.
I'm wide awake and still have to clean up some of the mess from Christmas Day - the last thing I want is to put him into bed with me right now.
DH and I keep taking turns. He's putting him down now - let's seeeee.
LOVE THE VIDEO MONITOR
UGH - down one second - screaming bloody murder.
I should relieve my poor DH!

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
We went through this with Lucas 2 weeks ago. He had a cold and we thought it was that...he would fall asleep when we held him but scream once we put him down. I was afraid it might be an ear infection so I propped up the mattress with towels underneath and he slept better that night.
Turns out for Lucas it was a double ear infection.

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
Does he like sleeping in the stroller? I remember I had to do that with DD when things got out of control. We kept switching back and forth between the bed and the stroller for a few days... also, I gave DD a pillow because the phlegm drips down to her throat and that makes her throw up.

No - not really - he will fall asleep in the stroller but I have to be moving at an extremely fast pace - lol.
He will sleep in the car - but then when we carry him in the dog wakes him with the barking.

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
This is DD lately. Everytime I put her down she wakes up. The only thing that seems to work is I put her on her side and hold her arms and legs down for about a minute. I know it sounds odd but I think she feels like she is still against me and she usually falls asleep.
How is he during the day for his naps?

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
Awww Diana, I hope you were able to get him to sleep. I was also going to say maybe ear infection. I am going to agree with Rachel on this and say let him sleep with you just until he falls asleep.

Re: Hour TWO of trying to get Jack to sleep
As another poster mentioned, the only time DS has done this is when he had an ear infection. He would cry inconsolably for hours. I would call your pediatrician tonight and see what he/she says. In the past, they've recommended bringing DS to PM Pediatrics - the one in Syosset but I believe they have ones out East as well. It's an after hours care emergency place for children and it's open until midnight. They're really nice and they helped diagnose one of DS's ear infections and gave him drops for his ears (that helped ease the pain) plus an antibiotic.
It may be nothing, but definitely worth checking out, especially if this isn't typical behavior for your DC. I hope your DC feels better soon!

If he has a cold, try the vicks on the soles of his feet. This worked great for us....
