Housebroken dog peeing in crate- UPDATE
I didn't catch on until Sunday but apparently Katie has been peeing in her crate at night. Yesterday I was very diligent about letting her out, taking her water away at night and she still had an accident. She never did this as a puppy. I'm calling the vet once they open I was just wondering if anyone had this happen.
UPDATE: I forgot to update before. I got her in at 9am. The vet thinks it's the beginnings of a UTI or maybe incontinence. She isn't tender in the area and their is no redness. They won't know more until they get a urine sample. I tried to get one before the vet but she look at me like I was crazy when I tried to shove a tupperwear under her while she was peeing. When I get home it will be dark so this will be fun. I just feel really bad thinking that she might be uncomfortable.
UPDATE 12/3- The vet called about the urnine sample and said everything looked normal. We are supposed to keep an eye on it, it could be incontinence in which case they will give her a pill to help with it.

Re: Housebroken dog peeing in crate
Is your dog on medication? My dog is on seizure medication and one of the side effect is constant urination so if your dog is on medication could be that.
She might also be taking in more water through out the day.

Re: Housebroken dog peeing in crate
First thing is to make sure she doesn't have a urinary tract infection, that can absolutely cause sudden accident issues.
If she gets a clean bill of health, see if you can decrease the size of her crate by putting in a divider and remove any soft materials.
Does she have a pee schedule? Maybe add a trip outside right before bed and do it consistently.

A UTI was the first thing I thought of. I think a call to the vet might be in order.
to you and Katie!

She goes out first thing in the morning same time and just before bed same time and a bunch of times during the day. I've been standing out there with her the past few days just to make sure she does her business.

So far she hasn't had an accident since Monday. Hopefully this was just a freak thing...maybe behavioral. I got her new bedding just in case that's what it is.

Re: Housebroken dog peeing in crate- UPDATE
my dog has done this to us several times and we had him tested for uti and everything else, so our vet thinks he is doing it out od spite, bc he is only in his cage when we go to work or leave the house and he sleeps in bed with us
