How bad was the allergy test for your baby/toddler?
2.5yo had bloodwork done at 2y for allergies. His eczema seems to be getting worse. I'm considering taking him for an allergy test.
If your DC got the prick test done, how bad was it? Were they in pain? Lots of crying?
I didn't take DS to get his bloodwork done but DH said 2yo DS was screaming the entire time they took his blood. It sounded pretty awful. I'm thinking the allergy test would be worse because it takes longer?

for us - the blood was bad, but not horrible - they have a specific lab in the 'campus' for our ped...and they are amazing at taking blood..
the prick was next to nothing - it's not like the child is getting stuck 30 times...it's on like....think of a check, like from your checkbook. there are little 'prickers' on each part of the outside (depending on what the child is being tested for). they press the check onto the skin and that's it.
you then sit & wait the allotted time and see how the skin reacts.
Em was fine - didn't notice a thing...

That doesn't sound bad at all. So it's like velcro type pricking and not a needle?
DS's quality of life seems so bad because of his constant itchiness from eczema.

Re: How bad was the allergy test for your baby/toddler?
DD2 just had this done. Was easy. The prick itself didn't bother her, she didn't start becoming uncomfortable until her skin started reacting and hives formed, then she was itchy.

Less than 15 minutes. They wiped the tests off and rubbed her down with a cortisone cream to stop the immediate itching and gave her a dose of benadryl (she had a couple severe reactions though).

definitely not needles - but not velcro...i didn't examine the thing - but think like staples - like that kind of prick - where it's more annoying to get one on your finger than an OWWWWW...
the reaction time thing was 15 minutes i think...
we just went back about Em's eczema...as she was getting worse, not better with soy. i'll FM ya - don't want to hijkack your thread!
