How can I get my 10 week old to fall asleep on his own?
He always needs to be rocked to sleep. Do you let him cry it out? I thought that was too soon? If I put him down just drowsy he is instantly wide awake and cries until he is picked up. I am returning to work in 2 weeks and would like to start to work on this. Any advice?

He is way too young to cio. have you tried a swing.. will he fall asleep in that.
To be honest though...I rocked DS to sleep. you'll miss it when he doesnt want you to anymore.

Honestly, at 10 weeks, I feel like you are at the mercy of what the baby wants and needs.
I would never do CIO until at least 6 months. And when my DC were 10 weeks, I held them if they needed to be held, rocked them if they needed to be rocked. It will someday come to an end so I tried to appreciate and enjoy it!

I would place him in his crib drowsy and shush him to sleep and even "rock" him by placing your hands on him and gently rocking him while he's lying down. Offer a pacifier and continue to shush, slowing the rocking until he falls asleep, then gently and slowly lift your hands off.
I never put myself at the mercy of rocking my son, I didn't want to start that habit and not be able to break it. I would rock him occasionally, but not every time he went to sleep.
