How did you go about finding your daycare?
I'm starting the search now, but not really sure where to start.
I want to find someone that watches a couple of kids in their own home- maybe 1 or 2 other kids (or more depending on the ages and help that they have). I don't want to use a day care center. So, i'm curious how everyone went about their search- looking for some insight.
How did you find your daycare? Did you do a background check on them? Any other advice that you can offer me? Any recommendations for someone in central nassau?
Thank so much!

Re: How did you go about finding your daycare?
I didn't take Jack to daycare so I'm sure I'm going to be no help at all - but the first thing I would be doing is to start asking anyone and everyone you know about daycares in the area. More then likely someone will know a friend of a friend of their third cousin who has the greatest daycare provider.
Also - FM me what part of Central Nassau....I'm pretty damn popular and maybe I know of someone!

Take a look at this site. It's all of the NYS licensed providers. Just add your info and providers from that town will come up. All are fingerprinted and have had background checks. As a social worker, I am big on this. Check it out!

Re: How did you go about finding your daycare?
Thank you for the replies!!!
The people i know that have kids all have family that watch them (not an option for us) and my coworkers dont use daycare (we work overnights, so they just choose to be zombies instead ), but i'm most likely going to be changing my schedule (and still would've used someone if i stayed on nights anyway). So, i figured asking here would be a good spot. I know there have been a few people looking into watching another child on here, but i cant remember who (and also didnt know where they were located).
Diana- I'm in Salisbury. Would ideally want someone in the surrounding areas- westbury, east meadow, carle place, mineola, etc...

My cousin lives in Salsibury, I'll ask her tomorrow.
I know of someone who is pretty amazing supposedly - she is in Levittown. Not sure if that is too far for you if you want to travel West.

Thank you!
I'll take any recommendations to look into! Parts of L-town aren't too far from me at all. The main benefit for travelin west is really just that it puts DH on daycare duty

Re: How did you go about finding your daycare?
My sister has a friend who watches kids in her home (in EM) - do you want me to ask for you? I think she only has one small one during the school year, and a few older kids during the summer.
I personally am no help, because I only looked at centers.
