How did you know when your DC was ready for potty training?
My DD is almost 17 months and the past couple of days she has been saying "poo poo" either right before she poops or while she is pooping. Then when she is finished she runs for her diapers so we can change her. I'm thinking I should buy a little potty for her and start introducing it to her. I never know when she is peeing but she is very aware of her poops. What do you think?

It can't hurt to get potty, but being aware of pooping and being ready to potty train are two very different things.

Re: How did you know when your DC was ready for potty training?
If she is aware, I think that is a great start. I would get a potty and introduce it to her. Sounds like she hates to be dirty so I bet she would take to the potty.
I know I read that alot of moms say kids are ready when they wake with a dry diaper & honestly from personal experience, I don't think that is good advice for eveyone. I have a boy, he doesn't care if he's dirty or wet. I knew he was mature enough to start trying (even though he would wake with wet diapers) He woke up one morning, I told him he was wearing undies all day & poop & pee goes in the potty. Well, he had 2 accidents the first 2 times he had to pee. Accidents were that he peed with his undies still on while sitting on the toilet. He got it from then on & after the second day didn't even tell me when he was going anymore. I am proud of him but we are only house trained right now for 3 weeks. We drive around alot & I'M scared to take the plunge so we still wear diapers when we go out & for bedtime.
