My 2wk. old was VERY colicky. We tried switching her to Gentlease, but it wasn't helping. The ped. tested her stool and there were traces of blood which is how they determine a milk allergy. Call the doctor.

My son developed severe eczema, mostly on his face. His eyes were swollen shut. I took him to the ped and that's what it was. They also did bloodwork which showed that is what it was. That was a TORTUROUS day!
I am going to the allergist at Schnieder's at the end of the month. DS is now on alimentum and it is pretty pricey. I am going to try to get it covered by the insurance company who is making me jump through hoops. Don't know if it will work though since this is sold OTC.

Re: How did you know your DC had a milk protein allergy?
We had switched DS2 to soy formula early on because he exhibited some signs of the same milk intolerance that DS1 had, so he didn't really have much dairy until I introduced baby yogurt at around eight months. When I gave it to him, about an hour later he repeatedly threw up for several hours and got very lethargic. This happened again when we tried cheese, so we knew there was a problem then. He also had pretty bad eczema.
