how do you decorate the outside of your house for xmas?
This is our 2nd Christmas since we renovated our home and we are overwhelmed by how to decorate. Help please! Image Attachment(s):

how do you decorate the outside of your house for xmas?
I would recommend white lights along the railing of your,porch and maybe a little light up something just in front of the porch....I'm not a fan of full 300 different sets of lights and yards spotted with lawn ornaments everywhere

Candles in each window, wreath on front door with a spotlight aimed. Maybe a leaning sled or wooden soldiers by your front door.

DH goes a bit crazy. I feel like we're the Griswold's  I like when houses have lights around the trim.

when we had a porch like yours dh did lights on the gutters, then wrapped down the spindles and accross the railings.
then the window decorations that light up, the area next to the driveway would get a spiral tree...maybe the light up ornament balls for the xmas tree since its too large to wrap the branches in lights.

I like to follow the lines of the house. I know not everyone is a fan of colored lights, but we like the old fashion colored lights around the peaks and lines of the house. The photo below has white lights on some shrubs. We no longer do that or the colored lights around the beds. We still have the white light wreath above the garage with a wreath on the door, and I now have an old fashion sled next to my door.

I do simple white lights on the gutter on my house. perfectly spaced. perfectly pointing up. very simple, but I love simple. I hate when people just throw up stuff and have mismatched lights.
I agree with PP ... big fat white lights on top of your porch. Big fatty red and white lighted wreath above garage. enough.
ETA: when i say "fatty" i mean bigger lights not the little itty bitty ones...
