How do you heat formula?
do you just put it in a cup of hot tap water? for how long? use a bottle warmer? microwave or boil the water? etc.
what's the easiest way to do it for night feedings?
thanks

Re: How do you heat formula?
I was using the bottle warmer but I'm not sure if it broke or what b/c now it's literally only heating the bottle, not the formula! I've been keeping a pot of water on the stove and throwing the bottle and formula in there for a few minutes. Works great!

Re: How do you heat formula?
Personally, I think that microwaving the formula is dangerous because of hot spots, but that's me being neurotic. As for heating formula, it depends on what bottle I'm using. I usually use the playtex drop-ins, so a cup of hot tap water works. Other than that, if I'm using the Ventaires, the tap water isn't hot enough, so I boil water. But honestly, our days of heating formula are over, so I don't do anything anymore!

Re: How do you heat formula?
We used to fill up a sauce pot with HOT HOT HOT water and let the bottle sit in it... Then shook it up a bit, tested it and served!
ETS - I also use the drop-ins so maybe that's why the hot water worked for us. My girlfriend uses a bottle warmer. I personally would never warm formula up in the microwave.

Re: How do you heat formula?
I used the drop-ins so I couldn't do microwave or bottle warmers. I think bottle warmers are so tempermental anyway.
So I put a mug in the sink, put the bottle in the mug, and run hot water over it for a min or two.
I still do this with her milk bottles and it works very well without getting it too hot.

We do. As long as DD will take it cold, go for it.

Re: How do you heat formula?
Genevieve is off formula now, but at night, we always mixed the powder with warm tap water. The dr. actually said it was safe and good to do, b/c they need the flouride....

Re: How do you heat formula?
I put our formula in the microwave for about 40 seconds and then give it a good shake. Seems to do the trick everytime

Yes! I am so diasppointed - and same thing DDs are only 7 wks so it didn't last for that long! Can't understand how all of a sudden it can "break!"

Re: How do you heat formula?
we use a bottle warmer upstairs and when downstairs we put it in hot water...I dont like either option as it seems to take too long, but DS will NOT drink it cold, he likes it very warm!

Re: How do you heat formula?
I use one of these, just dispense hot water in a large cup and let bottle sit in it to warm.

we do - we figure if she doesn't know any other way, she'll be fine - this way we can always feed her no matter what....we usually let it get to a little room temp but she's had it cold too....
maybe we're mean parents but we figurwe it'd be easier in the long run and so far,she hasn't had a problem with it so....

Re: How do you heat formula?
I know I must seem lazy, but with a baby that doesn't sleep ever, I need to make things as easy as possible since I'm exhausted and struggling with hormones right now.
So I tried it cold last night and this morning and she seemed fine. If she's not screaming her head off I'll run it under hot water to take the chill off.
Thanks ladies!!
