How do you know when or if to switch formula??? **Update
OK - first time mom here, please HELP!!!
My DD is 8 wks old and was BF and supplemented with formula until one month and then just FF. She has been on Similac Advance since the hospital - she was in the NICU for a dusky episode for a week. She is a good eater and takes about 4-5 ounces every 3-4 hours. I also use both prepared and powdered formula.
She has had gas which I know is normal and we have treated it with Mylicon and Gripe Water. Lately, I have noticed that she is very stiff and fussy during feedings. She arches her neck all the way back almost like she is looking straight up at the ceiling (she loves to look up!!) She never really spits up but at night she is a very fussy sleeper who seems to only be comfortable sleeping with her head arched all the way back. She moves around a lot and takes a long time to go down.
I was wondering if it is time to maybe try another formula or is this just normal. Could it be mixing prepared and powdered that is causing this? I read other post that moms seem to be happy with Similac Sensative. Should I call my Ped and ask about switching?
TIA!!!
**So I spoke to my PED and they think it is probably acid reflux and want us to give her Zantac. She also said to wait on changing her formula. Has anybody else had this issue? Does the Zantac work??

Re: How do you know when or if to switch formula???
I am having some of the same issues, Deb is very gassy and fussy at night. I mentioned it to my ped and he told me to use the Myclion also.
This could just be my doctor but unless there is a major issue they hardly even change formula. With Meaghan she had projectile throw up for 2 days and only then did the doctor made us switch to the sensitive formula.
I would definitely call and ask.

Re: How do you know when or if to switch formula???
DS was 4 weeks old when he started having issued. He would be in a sound sleep and cry out in pain and wriggle around. Then he would raise his legs and out came a big fart. It was always interruping his naps! For some reason bedtime was fine. He would eat fine no issues there but it was after that he was visably uncomfortable
So I called the Ped and said should I go to soy? She asked me questions about his bowel movements and such and said it didnt sound like a milk allergy so we should try Good Start first.
She said to give it a week to see any difference. And to mix the formula for 3 days before going 100% to the new. At day 10 he was a new baby! He is still gassy but has no problems passing it and it never wakes him up. now as we have started veggies some do upset his belly and make him gassy so I try to keep a close on that.
