I use this without the snack tray and push him right up to the table.

Something like this and still using it at 3. Most times without the tray. I just push him close to the island,
We use this also w/out the tray. She sits at the table and has a little placemat.

My almost 2 year old is still in her high chair. She doesn't complain and it somewhat contains the mess

We have the high table/high chairs and DS sits at the table without a booster. In the beginning we used the Fisher Price booster seat and still use it for my 18mnth old.

regular chair.
she never used a high chair and only uses her booster chair when there's no room at the main table (it only seats 3 so at dinner, the 4 of us can't fit)
she'll be 2 in 2 months and has been in a regular chair for about 4 months

Boosters do not work with my table/chairs. DS' high chair converted to a toddler chair so without the tray, it lowers to fit him under the table and still be strapped in or he'd never stay for a meal. Its a Graco Blossom. And sometimes he does sit in a regular chair with no booster.
