I shop with 2 infants and a toddler. I put as much as I can on the stroller and everything else I put in baskets. If I have to buy something huge I can't do it alone.

Re: How in the world do you shop alone with an infant and 3 year old?
For a really big shopping where we fill the cart, I'll either wait until the weekend when DH can come with me, or even better...our supermarket has these nifty carts with two "driving" spots facing forward where the child would normally sit. It keeps them busy for awhile!
When DS was still in the infant seat, I would ALWAYS wait until DH could come with me.

Its so funny, because I'm reading all these responses, but I feel like every time I am in the stores, all I see are women with only one child..
Wouldn't it be great if stores had child care services?

Re: How in the world do you shop alone with an infant and 3 year old?
Since DS#2 came out of the infant carrier & is WAY too heavy to carry in the Bjorn, I have resorted to doing all major shopping either with DH on the weekend or I do a food shopping Friday night around 8 once both boys are asleep.
If I have to run to Target, I use the double stroller & only get what I can fit in the under basket of the stroller.

I do one of 3 things-- 1. baby in beco carrier, 3 year old in cart 2. both boys in double stroller and only buy what will fit in the basket underneath and the one I carry Now that my little one is no longer a baby I also use those gigantic carts some stores like Target have that fit 3 kids or put him in the cart and let my 3 year old walk.

I haven't done it and don't plan on doing it, but if I had to, I would say baby in the cart in the carrier and the toddler in the front part of the cart. Obviously you won't be able to get alot of stuff though.
I did this but I also put one of the hand held baskets underneath the cart!

I do alot of fresh direct and peapod since DC #2 was born. I usually try to go to whole foods every 3rd week on a weekend - not with the crew

Double stroller and pull the cart behind me. I don't know if this works fir everyone but my double is fairly easy to manage with one hand.

Put the baby in a carrier and the toddler sitting up front. Or what I do is just go at 9 oclock at night for peace and quiet so I don't have to deal with the logistics of the kids!

Move by a Wegman's and they have babysitting for 3+. My kids love going and it is super clean, they have a max of 10 kids aloud in the room and they have a buzzer they give when you hand in your keys.
Then they also have helping hands, so if I fill up my cart around the infant carrier, one of these guys (they are the ones who collect the carts) come with another cart, and bring it to your car and load it for you.
These services are free and they are not aloud to accept tips. I have tried with a few different people and get turned down
