How late can you sleep in?

The irony that I've been wide awake since 5:00am isn't lost on me. My kids are sleeping though...

I was wondering, now that your kids are older, how late can you sleep in? I've heard people say once you have kids, your days of sleeping in are over. I only found that to be true when they were younger.

Granted some people have insomnia (hi, nice to meet you!), some are naturally early risers or prefer to get up early...but if you wanted to sleep in, could you do it?

To answer my own question, yes I can sleep in. They're self sufficient, get their own breakfast, will go downstairs, watch TV, play with their toys, build legos, etc.

I prefer to make them a big breakfast on the weekends so I'm usually up by 9ish...but if we wanted to sleep in, completely feasible.

How about you guys? Or am I alone with seeing the light at the end of the tunner?

GOOD MORNING! I'm up around 5:30 everyday because of the kids but even without my kiddie alarm clock the latest I can sleep is about 7-7:30 tops. I'm definetly more of a morning than night person.

Hi Ladies! I don't use an alarm clock .. ever. I am usually up by 5am. It's my 'me' time during the week. On the weekend I am just so used to it that I can't sleep much later. I went to a party last night .. so TODAY I actually slept until 6:00!!! THAT is sleeping in for me.

The boys CAN make cereal, get toys, watch tv... but they don't. If I'm in bed and they are awake, they seek me out. They crawl up next to me and push hug me and give me little boy kisses on my head and cheeks. They aren't trying to wake me up - they just want to be close. But if it wakes me up enough to make them pancakes then all the better.

I'm very lucky! Kids let me sleep in, I just got up and it's 9:15 now. They got up and are playing nicely in the LR now and DH is long gone for work.

Sundays used to be great when they were little, since DH would be up and taking care of them. I could sleep all morning and not have a care in the world. Now I get up by 8:30 on Sundays since we attend the Family Mass and then usually have something planned as a family for the day!

7:30, maybe 7:45... I have a house that is a blessing and a curse.. I can hear everything downstairs so even when they get up, I can lie in. My kids don't start school until 9:30 which is another blessing and curse.

I suffer from insomnia so it doesn't help on those nights I can't sleep - I've been on the other end of being awake at 5am, having not slept. And no night of partying to show for it. Not pretty.

I can sleep in! But mostly because I am up late usually. Lately, so is DD so she has been sleeping in. If she wakes up though, she is not the type of kid to go play on her own, she wants my attention. And her new thing is that she wants to make french toast as soon as she opens her eyes in the morning.

If I am lucky 7:30, mostly they are up by 7:00. Every once in a blue moon they will sleep till 8:00/8:30. I love those mornings

On the weekends my husband and I sleep anywhere from 10-11. Everyone knows not to call the house any earlier.

My kids are usually up by 7, but they play or watch TV on their own. If there are no games or school that day I usually sleep till 8 or 9. Any later and I feel guilty because I know they are hungry and aren't allowed to use the toaster w/o an adult.

I intentionally taught DS how to use the remote for the TV and DVR relatively young. He used to wake us up to turn the TV on for him..... now he can pick out any show he and/or DD wants, and they really don't bother us until they get hungry. Even then, they sometimes forage...

During the week I'm up at 6 a.m. (and Barb I'm also up half the night) and on the weekends if I'm lucky if we get to sleep in until 8-9'ish. It's not because the kids won't let us sleep (they've been sleeping late too) -- more because we have baseball, horseback riding, or something else going on.

It's a rare occasion, but every once and a while (usually a Sunday), I get the chance to sleep in. In fact, this past Sunday, after going to a wedding on Saturday, the kids let me sleep in until 10. It was a thing of beauty!

I can not sleep in. Even if I am exhausted I sleep until the latest 8 am. It might have something to do with the ginormous window we have that does not have a shade on the arch, or the fact that I am a morning person. DH can sleep until noon if I let him with the kids jumping on the bed screaming, etc. He can sleep standing up so he can sleep in.
They wake anywhere from 7 to 8 but occassionally will sleep later but they come and wake me every morning. They can't go downstairs because of the alarm being set.

I am jealous!! My youngest is going to be 5 and he still can wake up anywhere from 6:30 and up. Usually I am up about 7 on weekends and 6 during the week.

Sleeping in used to mean 11:00 for me.

Now 9:00 feels like heaven.

Even on the weekends that I have help I tend to wake up between 8:30 and 9:00.

DD wakes me as soon as she gets up - which is no later than 7:45...usually closer to 7. Im divorced and she is with her dad every other weekend and I still cant really sleep late like I used to. Late on the weekends shes not with me is like 8:30 LOL.

On the weekends we can usually sleep in and still get up before the kids do....

Thankfully they love their sleep...

ETA: They've been known to sleep til 11am....
