Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
Started looking in January- found a house we loved in March and put an offer on it. But the sellers ran into issues with the house they were buying so they put us on hold for a month or 2 until they got it resolved. We finally closed in July.

How long did it take you to find your house?
We are a different case because we went to contract on a condo and the builder went bankrupt and we had to sue to get our money back before we could continue our search so when I was all said and done it took 2 1/2 years
After we got out money it took 3 months

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
this was back in 2006
looked casually in April/May. Put our house on the market on Mothers day weekend.
Our house was under contract by 4th of July.
We bid on 4 houses, lost 2 was negotiating with another in mid August. Found our current house, will still negotiating on House #3, put an offer on our house, it was accepted. Went away for a week vaca. Got back and told RE agent we no longer wanted house #3 (house #4 was a FSBO)
Closed on our old house in Late October. (selling) Closed on house #4, late November 2006. Moved in by Dec 15.

How long did it take you to find your house?
Started looking, but not very seriously, in June, because we were waiting until I sold my co-op (didn't want to find a house and not be able to go forward with it). Closed on my co-op in early Sept, found our house in December (but had our wedding in Oct, so we weren't really looking for the couple of weeks right before the wedding) and closed on Feb.

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
For us it was years. Maybe 2. We were in contract for 7 months of that time because of various issues with COs.

How long did it take you to find your house?
We started looking in May 2013, saw our house in early June and were in contract by July 4th weekend. We closed mid September. It didn't take us very long because we were very specific with regard to neighborhood and bed/baths but flexibile on other items. It also helped that we had a healthy remodeling budget available in the event "our dream home" was a bit of a fixer upper.
I have to say that with vision, antacid and a great crew, our home is now better than we ever dreamed. The sellers agent and daughter of the prior owner both live in our nabe and stopped over to see everything we had done, they couldn't believe it was the same house. Remodeling isn't for everyone but it truly is amazing what can be done if you have the stomach for it.

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
Almost a year, and in that time we dealt with very nearly losing our down payment on one house, took a break, and then found our home and closed.

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
Let me preface this by saying that we lived out of town and did all of our house searching through the internet/realtor portal:
- Started looking in December - Immediately found a house we loved, did a virtual walk-through (yay technology!) and made an offer on it at the beginning of January. It was a foreclosure. Offer was accepted by the bank a few days later. - Closed on the house in mid-April.
There were a lot of issues (house issues, not bank issues) that came up while we were under contract that caused the closing to be pushed back numerous times. MANY repairs that the bank had to take care of. Had that not been the case, we probably would have closed a lot sooner.

How long did it take you to find your house?
We weren't looking AT ALL (actually had just discussed that we weren't ready to move in together) but my mom talked me into looking at one particular house and we ended up putting in an offer. It was a short sale so it was 3 months before we got the bank approval and finally closed. I can't wait to actually go house hunting some day!

How long did it take you to find your house?
Started window shopping in July/Aug/Sept. Went to see homes we knew we would not buy. We wanted to get a real life feel for what we wanted. We felt we needed to see houses to get an idea. Mind you, this was "pass by an open house, should we go in?".
Seriously started looking in November. Put an offer in the end of December. So 2 months for SERIOUS looking.
Closed March 31.

How long did it take you to find your house?
We started looking in July and we went to closing in April. We signed our contract in November with a tentative closing date of 2/28. We went to closing 4/4. The house we bought was the fourth house we put an offer on.

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
Starting look seriously last September, when we put our own house on market. We found a house right away--had an accepted offer, but that fell through because someone offered more before we got into contract (it was for the best though). We ended up going into contract on our new house late November. Closed early Feb (DH and I are both self-employed so bank needed a crazy amount of paperwork and took their sweet time going through it).

Not long. Maybe 2-3 months, but I really feel like we settled. I wish we would have kept looking.

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
We were in our co-op, started looking for a home, looked at a good 15-20 of them, almost sold our co-op and then that fell through.
3 months after, we sold our co-op, started looking at homes, sold co-op, moved out and 3 months after moved into the home we're in now.
So probably with the entire process a good 9 months? But that's because of the co-op situation.
Second time around we looked at probably 20+ houses, were in contract with one that fell through (thankfully!)

Re: How long did it take you to find your house?
It took us one year but we were on a very tight budget. We found a short sale which has it own issues. We put an offer in July but between this and that we closed in November.

How long did it take you to find your house?
We looked for about 3 months. I had a lot going on in that time frame and took some time off. Our house is perfect and we love it, but I was definitely sick of looking and willing to take anything that fit our needs. We had our offer accepted memorial day weekend and closed that last week in Sept.
