How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
Just curious... Thanks !!
Ok here's my dilemma... I never had a changing pad or table for Ds he is now 10 months old. I have always changed in on my bed. Now that he is mobile, it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep him still. I have been hanging out with a friend who has a DS almost the same age, and at her house she lets me change him on her son's changing pad. DS stays so still it's a miracle. I am thinking of buying a small table to use at home, but not sure how much use I will get out of it.
Oh, and putting a pad on his dresser isn't an option as I only have a tall dresser for him. What would u do? Is it worth it to buy a table for the house? Technically, it can be saved for DC2 (not pregnant yet but will be trying towaeds the fall).
If u got this far, thanks!

DS is over 2.5 and I still use it for 95% of diaper changes.

Re: How long did you use your changing table for?
Never used it actually. The top of DS' dresser is the "changing table" and we just never used it. I always changed him in my room on the bed (on a changing pad). Did this until he last wore diapers. I didn't like the thought of him possibly falling, plus the bed is slightly lower than the dresser top and that made it easier to change him. Also, I was always afraid he could somehow fall so being on the bed where there was more room made me feel that he was safer.

I never used mine. My DS was always moving around. Even when I strapped him down, he would flip himself over. It was way to dangerous. I always used a blanket down on his floor.

We use the top of DD's combo dresser. She is 7.5 months, and it is so difficult to change her up there because she reaches for everything, and flips herself over. We still use it, but are very careful!

Re: How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
We have a pad on the dresser. DS is 17 months and we still use it for every single diaper change, changing clothes, clipping nails, cleaning ears....basically, I love it!
I dont see an end in sight. I will say that at 17 months, changer or not, I get the alligator twist of death regardless. It sometimes take 2 of us to hold him down.

Re: How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
You can get a cheap one at walmart or ikea or even used. Thats what we are doing for the playroom. Right now we use the pnp one up in our bedroom/den/playroom. And we have a pad on their dresser the next level down in their room. Ive always used one so I would get use of it. If you are getting it just because he sits still keep in mind he might get comfy with it and try to get off after awhile.

Re: How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
My ds will be 4 this month and while he doesn't wear diapers anymore and we now put clothes on him on the floor. Things like cleaning his nose, ears, etc is still easier on top of the low dresser. The changing pad is still there and obviously his legs fall over the edge, but the few times I used it have been helpful.

Same. I never used mine.
I had one given to me and put it on top of a dresser but franky never used it. ever. gave it to another mom.
I changed AJ everywhere and anywhere and my favorite thing was those quilted waterproof pads they make to put under sheets.. I'd fold it in half and take it everywhere.

Re: How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
Saw your update. What worked with keeping DS still on the bed while being changed is that I would turn on the TV for him. I don't normally let him watch TV and didn't then either so TV was a real treat and it kept him busy and entertained while being changed.
ETA: We did go through some short phases were he would move around but I found that giving him a toy or something new (a remote) worked.

How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
I have a 15 dollar changing pad attached to a dresser and I use it every single diaper change, DD is 21 months. Honestly, I can't imagine changing her on my bed or on the floor. If she squirms and gets poop on the table I can just wipe it clean and lysol in a few seconds, on the bed, yikes! I'd be doing sheets every single day because she's so squirmy.

Re: How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
Still use it at 20 months for diaper and clothes changes. It may be more comforatble for the baby so I would get a cheap or used one. JUst make sure it is sturdy, those IKEA ones freak me out!

Re: How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
I had the changing station that attached to my DD's long dresser. I used it exclusively for ALL diaper and changes and to get her dressed until she was potty trained at 3y3m old. It was worth it for us!

How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
this doesn't exactly answer your question but have you considered buying just the changing pad and putting it on your bed / table / floor?

How long did you use your changing table for? EDIT with Question
I think if you will use it for DC2 in the future then it is worth it - you will wind up buying one anyone, so might as well get use out of it now too.
