Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

DS is 18 months and our bedtime routine is brush teeth, change into PJs, read a couple of books and then we rock together for up to 10 minutes...

Whole thing is about 20-30 minutes.

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

About 30 minutes for 3yo DD. 6yo DS may be up to 40 minutes, since he likes to read long stories some times.

DS reads a story to DD, then she goes to bed. Then DS and I go to his room, and he reads me another story.

DD is 2 and it takes around 20 minutes or so. Change diaper, change into pajamas, brush teeth, read 2 books, in the crib.

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

about 30 min. We change diapers, put lotion on, put on pj's - then bottle, then story, then bed.

If we do a bath it adds about 15 minutes.

They are almost 6 months.

with 2 kiddos i am trying to establish a routine of getting little one in bed by 7:00 and then big sis in bed by 8:00/8:30. this includes bath/shower for both (not always, but with summer here it will be more often than not) with a nursing session for baby and books for big sis.

About an hour. I start a full hour in advance telling DD it's almost time for bed. Once we start the PJs, story etc stuff @ 20 minutes.

Newborn to 10 months, maybe an hour tops.

A year and older about 30 minutes, rarely 45 minutes.

It's such an exhausting 30-45 minutes though. I want to cut out the bath time routine b/c it's going to be rough with 3 under 3 but this is what they are used to KWIM?

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

We trade roles and sometimes only one parent handles bedtime. We try to change it up so DD will be flexible.

Bath Night about 40 minutes
Parent A gives bath, brushes teeth,
Go up to bedroom, Parent B does lotion, diaper, PJ's, comb hair while Parent A waits in rocking chair. When DD is all dressed and ready for bed she gets "Paw-Paw" the dog she sleeps with, and then blows out the light - to a dim setting. DD is handed over to Parent A in the rocker, says goodnight to Parent B, gets 3 books, a couple songs and a few minutes of rocking then she goes into her crib. Sometimes she goes right to sleep, sometimes she plays and sings for a little while then goes to sleep.

Non-Bath Night about 20 minutes
Same as above but substitute wash hands and face for the bath.

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

About 30-45 mins. DH and I will tag team. He gives the showers and I will lotion up and help with PJs. Then I read a quick story (or two) and tuck them in.

The boys are 4 and 2 yrs old

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

A little less than an hour - we do bath first, then pj's, then milk sippy while watching tv, then DH and I take turns reading books - usually 2-3 - sometimes more sometimes less, then prayers, then into the crib!

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

Including bath (which is only every other night) it goes something like this:

7:15-7:30 - BATH
7:30 - 7:45 - BRUSH TEETH, GET DRESSED
7:45 - 8:00 - 2 BOOKS AND SHADOW PUPPETS ON THE CEILING
8:00 - BEDTIME

I dont know if you were asking for Lily or Piper, so thats the toddler routine. When he was an infant it was about an hour

6:30 - 6-45 - Bathtime/massage
6:45 - 6:50 - Dressed and swaddled
6:50 - 7:05 - bottle
7:05 - rocking
7:10 - more rocking
7:15 - in bed screaming
7:20 - more rocking
7:25 - finally asleep or so I think

I was wondering more for Lily but curious about other toddlers too.
For Lily, it's about a 30-40 minutes. I was wondering if I was in line with others or if this was long or short.

Re: How long does it take your bedtime routine from start to finish?

Non-bath night - 10-minutes, bath night - 20.

Non bath night (every other night):

8:10PM - Go up to his room (all 3 of us)
DH changes him while I read books over him/entertain him (since he doesn't lay still to be changed)

Goes to Daddy for hug & kiss

Daddy hands off to me and we read maybe one quick book (he usually is so antsy to go to bed at this point he doesn't listen to more than 1)

Lay him in crib, I kiss him and Pooh bear - turn on sleep sheep and go.

By the time I get downstairs I flip on the monitor and he's hugging Pooh bear almost completely asleep.

ETS: Add 10-minutes top if he gets a bath.
