How long have you been off BCP?? (if you were on them)

Just wondering...I am driving myself crazy deciding what to do. Whether to start a new presciption or go off and let my body regulate

December was my last month using BCP (I was on NuvaRing). My cycle regulated right away. When on BC it was 28 days, now I am 29 or 30 days.

Honestly, I would go off of BCP as soon as possible if you are thinking of TTC in the next year.

You can always use alternative methods until you are ready.

BCP can mask problems so the sooner you go off, the better!

I was on them for about 8 years and off for about 2 years. We used other methods until starting to TTC now.

I have been off for 5 full cycles and started to TTC one month after going off. My cycle regulated right away, but it seems like a lot of women's cycles did not.

I have been off since April 07...Trust me, I would get off ASAP & just use a backup method until you are ready. BCP can definately mask problems & for me, I would much rather know so we can react right when the time comes then to find out after months & months of trying...

I had the same plan when I went off of bcp (I wanted to let my body regulate b/c I'm so irregular with periods from 30 days to 70 days...I have PCOS)...but I got preggo right away so you never know!!

I came off BCP in April, 2006, got AF after 31 days in May, after 3o days in june and then got my BFP onb July 16th

I went off in July 2007. I had been on them for 8 years and wanted to learn my bodies cycles. This is our first month actively TTC so it was good to learn that I have a 34 day cycle and that I ovulate around CD20, not CD 14.

I took my last BCP at the end of August, 2006... so thats 20 months.

I've been on and off hormonal BC for about 6 mos but didn't officially start trying until last month. I was on hormonal BC the month prior to starting to TTC. So basically, I didn't wait to regulate. I was using various methods of BC, got back on hormonal BC in Feb and then we decided to start TTC in March so I was only back on it for 1 month.

I went off BCP for two whole cycles before we started to TTC. It wasn't until my third cycle off that things really started to make sense for me and that's the cycle I got PG. I would definitely recommend at least three cycles off.

I totally know how you feel Kathleen. DH & I really want to start TTC this summer and I decided to go off BCP now because I don't know how my cycle will be. I feel like I have been on BC for so long, I don't remember what my cycle was like.

I went off in Nov. A year ago, I was off for a couple of months.

My gyno said that the body "regulating" thing is a myth.

I stopped BCP in November. I would have got off them sooner if I knew it would take so long for my body to go back to normal.

i've been off 8 months and still irregular. that said though, i was always irregular and that was why i was put on the pill in my early 20's anyway.

however, getting off it was the best thing for me. it helped me see that i was still irregular and led to some testing and found cysts on my ovaries that i now have to get surpically removed. also, there are so many negative side effects to pill that the gyno doesn't tell you about, that for me, and my fertility, at 30 years old, it was time to get off of it... JMO

I have not been since the wedding. So like 7 months.

I wanted my body to be regular and cleansed of any hormones I was putting in it.

I am not trying to get pregnant RIGHT NOW, but I wanted my body to be regular and know my cycle when we did try to TTC.

I have been off of BCP since December '06. I didn't go off because we were trying or anything, I just kept forgetting to go get my prescription. a few months had gone by and DH and I decided to just have me stay off it. Shortly after that I realized I was ready to TTC and by October DH realized he was ready too. My body had time to regulate everything and now we are happily TTC!

Just do what you feel is right... never hurt either!
