How long were you pregnant before you first saw the dr.

He gave me an appointment of May 8th. At that point I think I will be like 7 weeks pregnant. Is this normal and how do I wait this long.

If it would make you feel better.. I would try and see if I can get a sooner appt! If not hang in there.. sure everything is fine!!

Some Docs won't even see you till 10 weeks or later. I called my Doc the day I got a BFP and they made the appt for 2 weeks later. I was exactly 6 weeks preggo then

well i got my BFP on a saturday and i had an appt for that thursday to confirm the pregnancy. I was there maybe 15 minutes, then i had my 1st prenatel visit at 8 weeks

It is normal. Some docs don't want to see you too early b/c there may not be a heartbeat yet. My doc didn't want to see me till 8 weeks, although i went a bit earlier b/c of some cramping.

I know its hard to wait. I was shocked he didn't want to see me right away.

I got my BFP on 4/2 and had my first appointment on 4/21 to confirm the pregnancy. I took 3 HPTs in the meantime just to keep confirming what my boobs already knew! I was 7w5d when I went to the doc. They did a pap, a breast exam like always AND a sono. We saw the heart beating furiously. It was magnificent. I'm glad I waited the 3 weeks. I just empowered myself with knowledge and information through other sources until I saw the OB. Good Luck....May 8th is really right around the corner!!!

I went in the day i found out for a blood test to confirm and then when I was 6 weeks i met with the doc and got my first ultrasound!

it will stink - but please, WAIT for that appointment. Is it rough? YES....
Is it gut-wrenching? YES....

HOWEVER - it is better to go then and have your first sono and see what you are supposed to then to go EARLY and NOT see something that you are supposed to.

I was with an RE - so i had weekly sonos. At the week they were SUPPOSED to see a fetal pole and heartbeat, they saw the sac only. I had to go back 3 days later to see what was going on. Those were the hardest 3 days of my life to this point. I cried more than I ever have before and i wanted to die. The doctor even wrote in my file the words, PROBABLE LOSS (when you transfer from an RE - you get your file to give to the OB).

3 days later, there was her heartbeat.

With our second child (should we be so blessed) - i will NOT go to the doctor until at LEAST 7 weeks so that i do not have to go through that again.

i am telling you this to spare you un-necessary stress and heartache!

My OB won't see me until after I'm 8 weeks along. Luckily I'm still getting monitored at my RE - I don't know how I'd be able to wait that long otherwise - probably lots of HPTs!

Did they have you come in for a blood test?

I went in and only saw nurse and they took blood from me and gave me my HCG and Progesterone numbers. Then scheduled an appt with Dr for 8 weeks.

I will be a day short of 8 weeks when i go on Thursday. The wait is TORTURE!!!

I was 7 w. I had a regular yearly exam scheduled and when I called to say I needed to make a prenatal appt, they told me to just keep the one I had because I would be 7w by then and they could do a sono at that point.

I was 7 weeks 1 day - my OB office wouldn't schedule anything until at least 8 weeks.

ETA: I thought I was 8W according to my LMP - however the little bean measured differently!

i was about 6.5 weeks when I had my first sono. (My cycles are so screwed up, that based on my last period, they thought i was further along then I was.) I only met with the sono. tech then. I then met with the OB at about 8 weeks.

I saw mine at around 5 weeks and first sono at 7.5 weeks, but that is because I had a miscarriage. Otherwise, I think the norm is 8 weeks or so.

i was 5 weeks, but i work at the hospital so they did me a favor b/c i was a nervous wreck. Normally i wouldnt have been seen until 8 weeks.

my first appt is on May 4 which would make me about 5 weeks (i think)
They told me I couldnt do it earlier because i would have to come back for more bllodwork

My first appointment was at 7w5d

I did have bloodwork taken 3 times before then, though, but my actual face-to-face with the doctor wasn't until almost 8 weeks.

My first apt was at 7w and a few days. I thought it was going to take forever to for my apt. to come but it went pretty quickly.

I would ask for a blood a blood test to confirm. BUt as for your appt it is best to wait 8 weeks.

I was 9 1/2 weeks at my first appointment. When I called my doctor's office to make the appointment I asked the nurse if I needed to come in to confirm the pregnancy sooner. She told me that if I took two HPT and they were both positive that I should consider the pregnancy confirmed
