How long would you wait it out

I know I'm an inpatient person, so I figured I'd ask here. I finally figured out what car I want, but there are none to be found! I want a 2012-2013 Buick Enclave. I want black or navy with the cocoa interior and dual moonroofs. I'm yet to see a single one within a 75 mile radius. I have three different dealerships looking for this truck. I've been waiting and searching for roughly a month.
How much longer would you wait for the "perfect" truck before admitting defeat and settling on something else- like maybe a different exterior or interior color? Forgoing the dual moonroof? Going with the Acadia instead since there's just more inventory to choose from?

Edit- I just wanted to add just another stipulation, I won't buy a car with over 20,000 miles. Yes, I know, I'm very picky.Chat Icon

Re: How long would you wait it out

If u really want it, expand your search to 150 miles. If u have dealers searching for you, it will be hard to negotiate.

How long would you wait it out

Honestly, I would have given up already. But that's just me. When I got my new car last October I really wanted it in white but the nearest dealership was in Pennsylvania so I said forget it and chose from what was in stock here. I'm not a big car person though, as long as it gets me where I need to go safely, I'm good. Lol

I would never wait a month or more for a car. And for a color combination...no freaking way.

If you have your heArt set on it... And especially if you keep cars a looooong time ... I would expand my search miles and wait.

I do have my heart set on it. And I tend to keep my cars for 8-10 years. My Pilot that I have right now is perfectly fine, so it's not like I'm in dire need of a new car pronto. I'm just getting inpatient.

I'm just curious, wouldn't you be disappointed to spend close to $40k on a car that wasn't what you really wanted? That's my main concern. I don't want to be mad at myself a couple months from now for settling.

How long would you wait it out

For an older car I would give up. When searching for used cars I am usually more flexible because there just aren't as many out there for sale like when getting a new car.

Certain things I bend on. But I agree. For that amount of money and because you will have it a long time .. I wouldn't settle.

If you kept cars for one a few years, i would say move on

ITA, and to add - I bought my current car (Civic) for cash and my preferred color combo for exterior/interior wasn't available so I took whatever was on the lot. I wouldn't have waited a week or more because to me, cars are depreciable assets and just wheels to get me from Point A to Point B.

Theres nothing wrong with waiting for the specific model you want, I just think I wouldn't hold out for a long time just to get a cocoa colored interior vs. some other color, IMHO. It all depends on how much those features really matter in your enjoyment of the car..Chat Icon

Re: How long would you wait it out

I dunno. When I got my car, I wanted a specific color. The dealer didn't have it and I got it in the color they had. Ended up falling in love with it and couldn't imagine it in any other color.
I don't think I could wait that long for my car/truck. I think you'll really love it, no matter what color it's in.
Do they have any color combos that you like, even a little?

As long as it took.

I'm not spending that amount of money and settling. No way.

I don't think I would wait. I would probably just expand my search. If I couldn't find it. I would move on to something else. I know I would get over it pretty quickly.

If you have your heart set on the color combination then I would increase the search radius. Personally I would not wait for a car in a specific color if there was another reasonable choice available. My current car is black- it was not my first choice but it was one of the last of the model year and I was able to get all of the features that I wanted for a good price.

Re: How long would you wait it out

That's a tall order for a used car. 2012 leases are not even due for return yet.

New, I would wait it out if I really had my heart set on that combination.

I do like the Enclave better than the Acadia.
Test drove both, went with neither.

No. It's a color. There are tons of cremes. Or cocoa what ever the color was. Not unless it was a custom Maserati.

How long would you wait it out

I would expand my search. I'm in my car every single day, and my current car that I drove brand new off the lot is now 5 1/2years old-I'll probably have it for another 3 years or so, so I want to be happy with it. I mean, buying a new car isn't chump change. People worry about a couch color, curtain colors, but not car colors?

Like I said though, I wouldn't have a problem driving 150/200 miles to pick it up if it was what I wanted though

I would wait and expand your search - 200 miles would be fine for me to travel to get the car that I really wanted or I would send DH to pick it up Chat Icon

I have looked at both the lighter color interiors, and they both look dirty and dingy pretty quick. That's why I wanted the darker cocoa to hide more stains and wear and tear from two kids. I really didn't want a black/dark grey interior because I do t like the overall look if the interior with the black and grey fake wood grain. I think I would be more willing to settle on the exterior color then I am on the interior,

Re: How long would you wait it out

Did you search for it on Edmunds.com? I would look for it with a 200 mile search area.
