How many children do you want?

I'm curious to see all the responses.

For me, I always wanted 2. But now DS is almost 7 and DH and I are having our first together. We decided when we got married that because of the very large age gap between DS and our next child, that we'd like for #2 to have a sibling closer in age. So, we'll be trying for a 3rd after this one.

I used to think 3, maybe 2. Now we have 2. Financially, it doesn't make sense for us to have a 3rd, and I REALLY don't want to relive the sleepless few weeks...or months...of being a sleep deprived mom again. Plus, we have a boy and a girl. So we're done!

DH and I always wanted 3 but IF issues really cost us so much time. We have 2 and I think now we're done because we're both turning 41 this year so we feel like we're getting to old. We have a Chat Icon and a Chat Icon so we're content and happy. I wish a 3rd could've worked out but it wasn't in the cards for us. Chat Icon

How many children do you want?

I used to want 3- however our current home doesn't allow for that and we won't be moving- ever lol. We also have fertility issues. Our goal is 1- if we have more we will consider ourselves blessed. Life has its own plans so for now we are trying very hard to have just one and I am ok with it. We will have plenty of time for 1 and larger financial resources

Re: How many children do you want?

DH and I have 2. A boy then a girl, almost exactly 3 years apart. We're really happy with our little family, we like the symmetry of being a family of four and enjoy experiencing all the "boyish" and "girly" stuff. As a SAHM, I'm glad they are gaining their independence and I'm not having those sleepless nights again.

We always wanted 2 and I just had DD2 in November. I had my tubes tied during the section because we are very happy with 2 and don't want any surprises!

How many children do you want?

I have one and I am perfectly content. I feel our family is complete. DH wishes I would consider having one more but health issues and age have helped me to reaffirm my decision to be one and done. I always said I would have 0-2 children- 0 if we remained child free and 2 if I became pregnant with twins. I am looking forward to reentering the workforce and having dd in full day nursery school in the next 6 months or so.
I love being a mommy but after investing 8 years in a PhD I want to be able to put some energy into my career.

We always said 3. Then we had our second and dh and I took turns feeling like we were done or wanting another. Our youngest is 16 months and I think we are 95% sure we're done.

How many children do you want?

I always thought I'd have at least 3. But I'm totally ok with 2.

Re: How many children do you want?

We have 3 (6 years span between them) and we really want 1 more in our hearts...but, financially, space-wise, and time-wise, though, I think we are done. I work full-time, as does my husband. We are stretched thin as it is. I'm not sure I would ever feel done, so we are unofficially saying we are done. I'm only turning 34, so if in a few years things feel different, we may change our minds.

Same here, but my kids are a little closer in age. We have 3 girls, and if we knew #4 would be a boy we would go for it, but 4 girls would be insane!

How many children do you want?

I would love 4.

Realistically, though- financially and with both of us working FT staying at 2 makes most sense.

If I knew for sure #4 would be a girl, I would be a lot quicker to go for it! Then we wouldn't have to worry about sharing rooms and stuff!

We have 2 now (4 and 2). I had a m/c back in October and I think we started to get excited about having 3. Right now we are just seeing what happens.

Ditto... The only way I would entertain the idea of a 2nd would be if we moved down south and were saving a boatload of money... Can't afford LI and tbh, I feel bad even having 1 child who may have to grow up with these redic prices.

Re: How many children do you want?

I always wanted 4 but my 4th pregnancy ended in a miscarriage due to chromosomal abnormalities and with my age (almost 41) I just don't want to risk having an unhealthy child when I already have three other children to take care of. So it will only be 3 for us!
