How many gifts did you buy your kids?

I have a five year old and a three year old. At this point I feel it's quantity over quality bc there is nothing that they are into enough to spend a tin of money on. I thought I had plenty but duh told me the other day I didn't have enough so I ordered stuff from tru on Saturday and should have it by tomorrow. Also do you make sure both kids have exactly the same amount of gifts?

Our goal is going to be five gifts or less every year.

I am not sure if I would make it even for each kid, I LOATHE when kids count gifts so I dont think I would go out of my way to make it even.

I know I hate that too. He says he says it's the one time if year we should spoil them and he wants them to wake up and see a ton if gifts under the tree.

13 gifts for each ds, plus anywhere chairs and fresh beat band tickets. No clothes this year.

We def try to keep it even. Dh and I always had huge Amount of gifts under the tree growing up.

LOTS! They each have 8 gifts for Chanukah, they each have 8 gifts from Santa, and then 10-15 each from me and DH. They also get gifts from around 10 aunts, uncles and cousins and then from the grandparents too.

I don't count, at least 10 each. DD probably has more b/c she got outfits for her American Girl doll while DS had things that were bigger and more expensive. They don't count presents at all.

too many but it is more bc i buy stuff throughout the year when i see it on sale(target clearance) and then this year dd made her own list too...and since she notices everything kind of had to make it a little even for ds even though he is 15 mths

DS is 13 months old and he is our only child..we bought him A LOT of gifts this year, I haven't counted, but I would say more than 20?

too many, maybe 13 wrapped items. Some large, some small. He is 19 months and wont even really get it

I only got DD 4 toys and then a bunch of books and small things for her stocking. I feel like it isn't very much, but she's a couple of weeks shy of a year and as much as she likes her toys, she's probably going to more entertained by the wrapping paper this year. Plus, I know our families are going nuts and DH and I are already freaking out about where we're going to put all these toys. And her 1st birthday is 2 weeks later, so I have gifts stashed for that, too (plus, she'll get tons more at her party).

This year I only got DS a few things....but he's going to have a crazy pile under the tree from Grandma! She came out this weekend and brought a ton of stuff with her to make it easier next weekend, lol. Santa got him 1 item, and DH and I got him 3 or 4. But he'll only be 9 months old, and doesn't know much besides the fact that there are shiny lights all over the place. Next year will be much different, lol.

I only have DS to shop for at the moment and I didn't count how many things we bought him. This year there was nothing really expensive that we wanted to get him so his "big" gift is a table and chair set that was not even $30.

Once I start going through the presents, I will probably put a few aside for his birthday since it's 9 weeks after Christmas.

For next year, we'll have a baby and a 2+ year old so I don't think I'll be getting the same number of gifts for each. They'll be in totally different stages etc. Not sure what we'll do when they're older.

We have like 10 gifts each and some big gifts for them to share like step 2 slide. My DD had some expensive gifts including a kindle fire and a princess toddler bed.

last year they have about 15 each. this year only about 6/7. they each got Nintendo 3DS and some games. The girls are only 20 months so they are getting about 6 things each too.

I only have 1 DC but when I was growing up my MOm made sure that my sister and I had the same amount of gifts.

DS and DD have 8 presents from us - one for each night of hanukkah. I tried to match presents in terms of scale so some nights are bigger and other nights are smaller presents. From my parents and my in laws DD is going to receive the loving family doll house with 6 rooms and DS will receive an enormous lego train. I am not sure what my brothers and BIL are getting the kids.

i don't have 2 kids yet but when i do and when the younger one is old enough to understand...yes i will def have same amount of things for them to open.

They each got 17 gifts (ranging from mitten clips to a t-ball set and baby crib). Actually, they got a lot of little things-nothing huge. Spent 200 on each of them (including tax).

One big gift for each kid, 3 or 4 smaller gifts and a few stocking stuffers.

It's not even, I don't care about that, but it's close enough, I didn't want there to be a huge discrepancy. My kids are too young to know how much things cost so if one of them got 5 gifts and the other 10 you can bet your azz they'd be counting

Mine child is 3. She’s getting three, a vanity, pull string woody, leappad. MORE than enough. However we are playing with the idea of getting her a digital camera.

I like the number 3. It’s a nice number. It means for me one gift for ‘what’s this’ one gift for “OMG gift opening is so much fun” and one for “Im a pro, watch me tear into this bad boy!” Also leaves room for anyone else who buys her junk and since we open our gifts alone at home, she’s got time to play and enjoy her gifts before politely enjoying other people’s gifts.

I am coming to the point where if you want to see her open it, you need to be present, however NO ONE is allowed in my home on xmas morning. So if you want your gift opened in front of you, wait until we do our rounds. Otherwise, meh.

a RIDICULOUS amount!!! my parents always did xmas BIG for my sister and I growing up! it was that day of the year where we were spoiled beyond belief.

DH and I are doing the same for our DD. (and future).

She got a lot from santa...I can't even count plus 2 big santa gifts.

LOL my girls are only 5 months old.. but they each got a $500 savings bond.. a cpk baby.. small dolls.. rattles.. teethers.. board books.. then a bunch of large stuff for them to share.. besides the savings bonds.. I spent probably $200.. they will have NO idea what it's all about.. but I know that DH and I will have good memories.

I am doing the same amount each night for both kids. We celebrate both holidays, so they get 8 presents (one a night) for hanukkah. Then they will get 3 presents each for christmas (one bigger then the other two) and i got them one present for them to share. Then they will have little stuff in their stockings (e.g trains, ornaments).

ETA: I also tried to match presents (e.g he got a lego set, she got a little people set)

Maybe 5 or 6 gifts each. They'll get a few more each from grandparents. That's more than enough in my book!
