I am getting it. My OB advised it. And then he advised me to get the swine flu shot when it comes out too...

I'm definitely getting it.
I've gotten it for the past few years without any issues. Last year I got the flu shot in Oct. and my BFP in May. As far as I know it is totally safe.
I work with pediatricians, and know someone who works with the Immunization Dept. and they are all telling me I MUST get the regular flu shot and the swine flu vaccine to protect me and the baby. (Swine flu is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, and we're #1 on the NYS Dept. of Health's priority list of who should be vaccinated first.) So, at this point, I do plan on getting both.

Got it - got it when i was pregnant with DS. Have gotten the flu shot for 25 years!!! Never got the flu (knock on wood!)

I have never gotten the flu shot before but I will definitely be getting the regular flu shot this year. My doctor told me today he highly recommends that I get it.
As for the swine flu vaccine, I dont think i will be getting that one.

I am getting it as well as the whole family this year only because I'm having a January baby this time, DD is in nursery school and I'm a healthcare worker. The swine flu is too unknown to me and at this point rather take my chances and not get vaccinated.

The swine flu shot scares me...I read in the paper that the swine flu shot is still new and "needs more studies for children and pregnant woman"
That right there scares me..so I really don't want to put something in my body that nobody really knows the side effects

I asked my OB about it as well and specifically about swine flu and he advised against it since I've never had one and am young and healthy - he didn't think it was worth the risks. but I think doctors disagree and also what you do may affect your decision - if I were a teacher, I probably would've been getting one every year, including now.

I am on the fence about it... nys now is mandating all hospital workers to get it but i had a reaction the last three times so i am hoping to get a waiver.. i work alone on the overnights in the basement 1 night a month... if they make a big deal i am going to drop it

My ob advised it but I called my regular doctor and he said if i was his daughter he would tell me not to get either flu shot. I have known him for years and trust his opinion so Im not going to get it.

im not sure what im going to do.
ive never had a flu shot before so i dont know how ill react. i rarely get sick though (knock on wood). but i also work in a corporate place...not around kids etc.
BUT this fall/winter ill be observing in classrooms 1-6...which means potential for lots of sick kiddies.
soooo i dont know what to do.

Definitely getting the regular flu shot - always have (and with 2 pregnancies as well)
If they recommend the swine flu shot I will get that as well.
