How many outfits does your newborn go through a day? (0-3 mos)

I'm just wondering if I have enough clothes. I'm due in a few weeks and I pretty much plan on dressing the baby in just stretchies and pajamas for the first few months, especially since it will be the middle of winter. But I think I only have like 15 pairs of fleece pajamas. I'm wondering if I should get a little more? Also, how often do you do the baby's laundry? I'm assuming you definately separate it from all other clothes. Sorry for crashing, but I cant wait to be here and ask more questions everyday! TIA!!

ETA: I'll take anyones experience, I was only asking 0-3 mos bc hopefully by the time I get to 3 mos I'll be able to catch on myself for the future.

yes, I do KJ's laundry separate from ours as I use free and clear detergent. I would say in the beginning, I change his clothes 1-2 times a day and do laundry once a week

DD wears footed sleepers inside when we were staying home, but an outfit when we go out. There are days where she will wear one outfit all day and others where she has gone through 4 outfits in one day. Even if I keep her in a footed sleeper all day, I will change her into a new one for the night time. For 0-3 size she had 6 going out outfits (2 of which were fleece pants/jackets and 4 were cotton outfits), 5 undershirts, and 7 footed sleepers. She is 9 weeks old now and started to wear 3-6 month clothing this week because the feet areas are getting to small on her in the 0-3 month size. It was fine everywhere else.

ETS: I did DDs laundry separate from everyone else's laundry for the first month. Now it gets put in with her brother's laundry. I do laundry every 4 days. I wash the entire family's laundry in dreft. Once our dreft supply runs out I am going to switch back to tide free and clear for our family's laundry.

DS is in daycare and 6 months. I do his laundry separate from ours and probably twice a week. I use Dreft for his stuff. I got a huge one from BJ's that's lasting forever.

we never separated our DCs clothes from ours and used reg laundry detergent and never had a problem.

i do a load every other day.

as for how much i changed them.. DS was probably about 2-3 times a day, with DD she has Acid Reflux, so i am changing her after almost every feeding.

DD is almost 2 months and goes through 1 or 2 outfits a day. I usually dress her in footed carter's or gerber outfits and use the fleece footsies for bed. If we go out I put her in a cuter outfit. I do the wash as needed, once every 2-3 days (I do smaller loads just for her) in dreft.

We lucked out and Kaydyn wasn't a baby who spit up and she had very few explosive diapers. So we went through 1 maybe 2 outfits a day (usually a sleeper/one piece during the day and a onesie and swaddle for nighttime).

I did her laundry separately at frist because my MIL bought us a huge bottle of dreft so I washed her clothes in that for the first few months. I did laundry once a week.

When DS was that age, I think we went through 2-3 outfits a day. I remember he used to pee on our bed all the time. haha

Everyone told us we had too many clothes. Yesterday, he made it through the day in one outfit (he is 9 days old). Some days he goes through 3-4 outfits. Today, he is already on outfit number two.

We are constantly doing wash. We wash our stuff together with his and use All Free and Clear.

I have 10 day old twins. They have been averaging 2-3 outfit changes a day. They are so small though that its hard to get a good seal on their diapers so they pee on themselves sometimes.

Between the outfits, burp cloths and blankets, etc - we are averaging a load every other day. I wash their stuff separately in Dreft. I think you will be fine with 15 pj outfits.

honestly, you probably have more outfits than I do/did.

I would advise against buying anymore b/c at 6 weeks old, my son is fast growing out of his 0-3 months clothes.

he was born a decent size (7lbs 9 oz) and fit fine into newborn size for almost 2 weeks.

ever since, he's grown exponentially. in weight and in length, which is the real problem with that size.

anyway, I dressed him once in the morning, and then changed him into his pyjama at night. he occassionally would pee through his pj's so that would require a 3 change.

I wash his clothes as needed in Ivory Snow...so throwing a load on if he is running low is no skin off my back.

better to do laundry than waste $$ on more clothes that won't fit him soon.

I do DS clothes separate from ours and probably 2-3 times a week. I change him daily, but sometimes that could be more depending if he is dirty or not. The bulk of the laundry is his bibs- he is going through them like crazy, every hour he needs a fresh one because of all the drooling.

We use dreft, and probably will use it until he gets alittle older.

DS wore 1 outfit and 1 pair of PJs each day... but we were lucky - he never had an explosive poop, never threw up, etc.

i wash his clothes in their own load, but i use free & clear detergent for all of us.

I think you have more than enough! I prob do laundry every other day-every other 2 days... and in the beginning there was a lot more so I did separate but I used the same detergent (free and clear) so now I just do all of our together...I say 2-3 outfits a day then (more or less if there was a poop-explosion!)

Like a PP said they dont last long at that age so I def wouldnt get more....you can always get the next size and if in an "emergency" you run out, you can always quickly put on the big one! You will prob want to do laundry before you use all 15 bec you wont want the stains to set in on those cute outfits! I have about 6 for my 11 mo old and 2.5 yr old and I never run out before laundry time!

DS is EBF and had a lot of blowouts as a newborn. There were also quite a few times when he'd pee on his outfit. He usually wore at least 2 outfits each day. He was 8 lbs 1 oz at birth and wore newborn clothes for the first 5 weeks. I ended up getting more newborn stuff for him b/c 0-3 was huge. Then, he wore 0-3 month clothes until he was at least 3 months.
