How many servings of fruits/veggies does your toddler eat each day (on average)?
DD is just impossible with eating ANY fresh fruits or veggies, it's such a headache
How many servings (or really, how many times during the day) does your toddler eat fruit and veggies?

I would say anywhere between 3 and 5 servings. DD is really into fruits and veggies though. She would eat them (and bread) all day if she could.

DD usually gets 2-3 fruit servings and 2-3 veggie servings a day
She usually gets a fruit each with breakfast, lunch and dinner. A vegetable with lunch, and 1-2 vegetable servings with dinner, occasionally a fruit or veggie for snack.

Probably 2 servings of fruit and 1 veggie. I don't know how I would have time to give her more, she usually has fruit with breakfast and lunch and veggie with dinner.

Re: How many servings of fruits/veggies does your toddler eat each day (on average)?
Well DS hasn't touched a vegetable since he was 10 months old and is 3 next month. The closest I get is french fries. Fruit he might have 1 serving a day. DD, who is C's age has become very picky the last 2 weeks. She will only eat peas, sweet potato fries and over cooked broccoli. Fruit she might eat a serving a day too. It is a struggle to get DS to eat and always has been even as an infant with baby food. He has days that he eats better than other. My biggest problem with DS is that he refuses to even try food. DD will try it, eat a few pieces and then decide she doesn't like it. They are both growing and gaining weight so I don't keep on top and am just happy that they are eating.

I'm not good with what a "serving size is" but...
Bella drinks a smoothie a day (1 banana...3-4 strawberries...handful of blueberries...sometimes some peaches or an apple thrown in...OJ and a yo Baby yogurt)
She'll usually eat a fruit in the afternoon as a snack...be it peaches or another apple.
She loves her fruit.
She'll always get a veggie at dinner.

at least 3 servings a day. My son loves fruit more then veggies. Did you try feeding her the fruit or veggies first? Sometimes I need to do that so I know that he has eaten his fruit or veggies for the day. Sometimes they get full with so much other stuff they never have room for the fruit or veggies.

Oh, the smoothie sounds good, although it may not work on DD, she doesn't like anything sweet, but I'll try it. So you use 1 container of plain YoBaby and then mix all the other stuff in? And is that a meal or a snack for her?
Thanks

She just hates them, although she loves them pureed (still ) so she does like the flavor.
It's a battle every day
Personally, I much prefer veggies to fruit...I don't eat a ton of fresh fruit, but I do LOVE my veggies. She may be the same way, who knows, but she still doesn't like to eat any of them fresh.

She LOVES them. It's in addition to her breakfast...she'll drink it throughout the morning.
Yup...1 container of yobaby any flavor and I throw in all that other stuff, plus a little ice. I use a little less than 8 oz of OJ or pomegranate juice.

Does she eat pasta with sauce? I always puree up a veggie of some sort and mix it in with the pasta sauce.

So it's a perfectly smooth consistency, right?
I'm going to have to try it...hopefully she'll really love "helping" me throw the stuff in that she'll drink it by some miracle

I try to make it a little more watery than a normal smoothie so it can get through her sippy straws...so it might be more than 8 oz. But I don't think by much.

My DS has a thing where he will only eat fruits or veggies if they are pureed! So me like a crazy lady constanly purees his veggies and fruits so that he eats them.
I figure as long as he eats them... if this is how he does it, so be it!
When he is home with me, he has a fruit in the morning and at lunch, then veggies at dinner... he will eat so much of them it has to be at least 2 servings. He may get another fruit at dinner too.

Re: How many servings of fruits/veggies does your toddler eat each day (on average)?
Here is a nice guideline for toddler serving sizes from a website
" We all know that children should eat less than adults. After all, they are smaller. The following are some serving size guidelines for a 1-2 year old that may help you out."
Milk/Dairy: Servings: 16-20 ounces of per day. Whole milk, soy or rice milk are recommended. Other equivalents: 1/2-3/4 ounce of cheese = 4 ounces of milk. 1/4 cup of yogurt = 2 ounces of milk.
Fruits and veggies: Servings: 5 or more per day. Serving size: 1-2 tablespoons - Pureed, mashed, or cubed.
Grains: Servings: 3-4 per day. Serving sizes: 1/2 slice of bread, 1/4 cup of cooked cereal, 1/4 cup of dry cereal. 1/4 cup of pasta, 2-3 saltine crackers, 1/2 tortilla.
Non-dairy Proteins (meat, fish, beans, eggs): Servings: 2 per day. Serving sizes: 1/2 egg, 2-3 tablespoons beans (i.e. black, kidney, pinto, edamame, etc...), 1 tablespoon peanut butter, 1 ounce of fish, lean beef, pork or chicken.

This is EXACTLY us too-- still pureeing. It's a whole "thing" we discuss, over & over with her pediatrician...he says just stop giving them to her (purees), that kids can go years w/o eating a piece of fruit or veggies and be fine...but my thinking is that I want her to have the nutrition from the fruits/veggies and to keep liking the taste, so there's no harm in still giving her purees.
When I tell people I still do that, they can't believe it...but it's not like she's refusing fresh veggies/fruit BECAUSE I still give her the purees...she does NOT see the correlation between the purees and fresh.

Re: How many servings of fruits/veggies does your toddler eat each day (on average)?
It varies by day but I would say definitely about 2-3 servings of each per day if not more (I'm not exactly sure on a serving size). DS is a huge nudge sometimes when it comes to eating so I have learned to be creative I always give him a variety of fruit chopped up for breakfast and lunch to start the meal - at least 2-3 different types b/c he eats more then. If he doesn't eat most of it I often blend up fruit and mix it in with yogurt or cereal - I do this at least a few times per week. He loves tomatoes and avocado and will eat these himself at lunch often. For lunch and dinner i mix in veggies with whatever he is eating - pasta, quinoa, alphabet pasta etc. I feed him this after he is done feeding himself. For dinner he usually eats light but feeds himself a little bit of meat and at least two veggie servings (he loves squash, green beans, carrots and sweet potatotees and zucchini the best). Trust me when I tell you it is a challenge most days to get him to eat this healthy! HTH!

DS loves his fruit, but, getting him to eat veggies is like pulling teeth. He used to eat corn, sweet potato fries, and all of sudden, BAM, won't touch them. It's very frusturating.

Well it's nice to know we are not the only ones! It's so funny because DS will eat pureed peas until the cows come home, but once a whole pea enters his mouth, he immediately forces it out with his tongue! I am with you, I would rather still give him the purees so that he is getting the nutrition than not give him any.
The good news is that at some point he will be old enough to puree his own fruits and veggies!!!

That's my hope too.
DD will not even allow most fresh fruits/veggies near her lips-- peas, corn, carrots, etc.
It was a day of much excitement last week or so when she took the TINIEST, TINEST nibble of a piece of shredded carrot after passing it back & forth with me for a nibble. It's THAT BAD with us.
