How many weeks when you should pack your hospital bag without looking too overzealous to get baby out?

I am 31 weeks now and I am in the midst of getting things in order. From the looks of my OB appointment today, we are scheduling a C at 39 weeks. I imagine 8 weeks is ridiculously early, but I don't want to wait too long because I am experiencing a ton of pain from a herniated disc being compressed by darling Miss Bean's cute little head.

I think DH would make fun of me if I did it this week. When should I realistically do it?

Since it is a C-section maybe pack it a week and a half before the date? You can always get some thing ready now, and make a list so that way when it is closer it will be that much easier.

I thought the same thing ended up in labor at 37 weeks and didn't have the bag packed. I say pack when you wanna pack!!!

I started gathering things at like 35 weeks and was fully packed and zippered at 37 weeks.

I believe I started to gather things around 32 weeks, but had it packed by 34/35 weeks, just in case.

I'm 30 weeks and was thinking about when I should pack my bag as well. I think it will make me feel better to pack earlier than later so I may try to get some things together this week. With first DS I was sent to the hospital for monitoring at 36 weeks so I want to be prepared!

That makes sense. But more importantly V, when is the earliest I can start messing with DH so it is believable? I am thinking of having my "water" break He so deserves it!

I am 35 weeks and started packing my bag this weekend! I still have to add a few things (including 's outfit which needs to be washed) but figure it will be completely packed by next weekend.

Wow. I am such a slacker. My bag is not fully packed and I am over due. Don't listen to me at all Mich!

I'm 36 1/2 weeks and not packed - lol. I know I need to, but I am not planning on packing a lot and feel that most of the things need to be packed last minute because it's things I use on a daily basis.

I did it in my 38th week. I knew the date i was being scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks. But in that week i changed things so many times.
My recomendation from past experiences only is to wait as long as you can, because the earlier you start packing the more likely you'll need an extra bag by the time your ready to go!

I'm 32 weeks this week and am starting to sort of gather things, I think I am going to do some online shopping this week for new pj's etc. I have no baby stuff at all...oy vey.

I am buying new pajamas and stuff for the hospital so once I buy it I am packing. I always pack early....probably will do it around 34 weeks, even though Im a scheduled C/S.

If it makes you feel better to not have to wait pack it now. You can always hide it from DH so he doesn't laugh at you.

I'm gonna pack early b/c I'm just like that. BUT some people say last minute packing is a good thing to keep ur mind off contractions. Since ur getting a C and prob need to rush there if u go into labor before ur scheduled I would say go for it whenever. Plus yeah, I kinda like the drama the little suitcase will create in DH's brain and that's a really deep weird woman's psychological problem we must have, lol.

I packed what I could around 35 weeks. Then I made a list of last minute things to throw in when we're leaving.

I did have all my things together though:
suitcase
boppy
carseat
carseat mirror
viacord
diaper bag

I decided to pack the diaper bag of the baby's homecoming outfit and blanket so I'll have an empty bag when I come home from the stuff that the hospital gives you. I also didnt want my stuff all over the baby's clothes.

I'm 31 weeks also, go back to the Dr on Wednesday and if DS hasn't turned and is still breech I will be most likely scheduling a c section. Which is fine with me, as long as DS is ok then I will be.
I've thought about packing my bag and what I should pack and all and keep putting it off. Before you know it, it will be time to go to the hospital and I will have nothing done.
I'm gonna get new pj's too, I'm always hot, and don't own or use a bath robe.
Does anyone that delivered at South Nassau know if the rooms are cold or hot???
That may help in my decision on pj's too.
