How much do you pay per year for Family Medical Insurance?

We are going to be switching to DH's medical plan soon, and I'm shocked at how expensive it is. I pay about $4,500/year for a family plan now, no in-network deductible, and $20/$35 copays.

His plan is $5,400/year with a $3,000 deductible. Is that insane??

How much do you pay for a family plan (2 adults & kids)??

And, if you'd like to share, what is your in-network deductible?

0. Dh company pays it all. That was the upside to them.

I chose $4k+.

We have what your DH has pretty much and yes, it is insane.

we have a 6k hi dd plan.

dh's firm covers the premium and a portion of the dd (at least they DID, but the recently made a change that could make us responsible for the whole 6k)

DH's plan in non-contributory. Co-pays are $25; RX is $10. Not sure what the out-of network deductible is.

My company is $2,880-4680 for family with +2 dependents. Employee only is $120/yr-720/yr.

I pay $90/paycheck for our family medical plan so it's about $2k/year. No deductible, very low copays like $15/20.

DH's company offers plans, but pays nothing towards it.

We pay $518/week. Yes, a WEEK. For our family of 4, we pay close to $27K a year for health insurance. Where's the puke emoticon?

Oh, and we have $40 copays, a deductible and have to pay co-insurance. Sometimes I think we are better off without, but we fall into the loophole of making too much or having been covered in the past year to qualify for FHP or HNY.

Edited because it is $518 not $580. But still!

Ours is over $7k for just DH and me on the plan with his company, but the plan with my company isn't much different and his plan is much better. We don't have to put up with that referral nonsense at least - when I had one of those plans it was always such a hassle to get referrals sent over - multiple calls and half the time you'd get to your appointment and they didn't have the referral.

About $19,000 per year.

And I work in healthcare.

All of you who pay only a few grand should consider yourself extremely lucky.

If I ever lost my job we would be royally screwed because DH is self-employed and cannot afford it.

It was almost zero, but now that we are adding our newborn daughter, about $100 for the year.

DH gets coverage through his employer and they cover just about everything.

Copays for doctors are $15 and $20 for specialists.

Most meds are a $5 to $15 copay

$9K for combined for both of us on our own company susbsized plans.

Then the out of pocket expenses total about $6K a year.

The only good thing is the premiums are before tax which lessens our tax burden. We use flex spending as well.

Our premiums total $10,778.40 per year for a family of four.

Our deductible is $11,600.

One physical a year per family member is covered, as is a pap smear and mammogram and a gynie visit. Not sure if the prostate screening is covered, but it probably is.

No prescriptions are paid for, nor are any lab tests nor other screening tests until the deductible is met.

i pay $220/week which works out to over $11000 a year. EEK!! that is not including dental

Into the plan? $0. DH's job covers it. Our copays are $20 for visits. Prescriptions are $10, $20 and $40 depending. Depending on any tests we get done at doctor's offices will be an additional copay too.

Our dental is through another carrier but covered by his job as well. It only covers a portion. However my dentist is awesome. He hasn't charged me a penny. He takes what my insurance pays. He has done this for my parents for years.

We are on dh's insurance now (just me & him--we have no kids), it doesn't cost anything out of his paycheck (not sure if it would if we had kids), but it's not great coverage... we have $30 copays for regular doc & $50 copays for specialists, with a yearly $500 deductible & 10% coinsurance. I think we will switch to my employer's plan soon, from what I have heard the coverage is better.

3000 deductible.

That is a pretty good deal considering most companies I ever worked for charged upwards of $800 a month for a family plan.

Currently we are paying 45 a month for DS, and DH is paying 51 a WEEK ...and I'm NOT insured. But now he's ready for benefits at his 2nd job, so we'll be paying 100 a MONTH for all of us to be on his new plan starting July 1st. This will be the first time in a long time we won't be stressed about insurance. It's crazy!

I pay $45/week for DH and I, and that includes dental/vision. We have Empire BCBS PPO. Low copays and no in network deductible. Family bumps up to like $50/week. We are very lucky I have it!!!

9K a year, 800 deductible, coinsurance is 15% on everything, and 25-50 dollar copays

this is for a family of 4, Dh works for the ins company, the higher salaries pay more toward the insurance (a scale)
