I agree with most of the previous posters that it is all relative and there are so many variables. DH and I both make good incomes but we have big expenses - large mortgage, super high property taxes, student loans, car payments, and debt, which kills me. We also now have three kids. The rest of our $$ goes to them!! We pay a small fortune for private nursery, pre-k, etc before they can go to the public school, and a ton for summer camp too. We are also very fortunate that my parents watch the kids, so we save on day care and before/after care. Now that the kids are getting older, there's activities too!
I'd love to cut expenses, but it seems that every year there's just more to pay for.

Seriously... LOL
I am a single mom of 3 who manages to make it on a FRACTION of these amounts and thats including child support. My total "income" including CS is less than $100K per year and I own my own home, take vacations, have zero credit card debt and my student loans are paid off. I live in Eastern Nassau.
