I don't have any advice on who to use but our sellers upgraded as one of the conditions to close and it cost them about $1600 and we went from 60amp (yes--can you believe they ran an inground pool on that) to 200amp service.

Re: how much is it to upgrade electric in a house?
Can be as low as $1600 and as high as about $2000.
I have an excellent electrician who did extensive work on my house and who has done work for several people on the board. He is only one of two of the many subcontractors I hired who I would 100$ recommend.
Peter Laura and Sons Kings Park (631) 265-8466
If you decide to call him please say I recommended him. He likes to know where he gets his referrals from.

WE went from 100 amp to 200 amp back in early 2004. We paid $1300 and got a whole new box and connection to the street.

Re: how much is it to upgrade electric in a house?
I have heard 1500-2000. We are planning to do this. I have two names - one does work for my MIL, but he is very busy, so we'll have to see how his schedule looks (His name is Rich, but I cannot remember the last name - I'll look it up)
The other is a friend's sister's boyfriend's boss...LOL - Rich Boccio - I still have to get the number - as you can see I'm still in the planning stages.
Both are Huntington area

I used the same electrician and was fantastic based on the same recommendation above. I paid 2k for this and just had this done within the past few months and will use him again for future work as well./

we haven't done it yet b/c of $ but need to. I can give you the name of the electrician we've been using for other projects if you like. Just fm me. They've been terrific! And very creative for those on a budget who need to get by in an older home with out of date electrical system .
