It doesn't get a paternity leave but will be taking off 3 weeks vacation.

DH was only able to give me about 5 days - he only had 10 vacation days last year and had used a few to help me get to dr appts when I was on bed rest and then a day when I was in labor - for that reason I actually sent him to work on the thursday and friday after I delivered (I had my own room so he came nights and stayed with me) - so I would have more time with him when DD and I came home. I had a section so I really needed help for a while - my mom and my dad also used vacation days to help us.

DH's firm doesn't give any personal time for that sort of thing. I think most people I know their husbands took vacation days.

My DH owns his own business and the winter is his off season…that is why we were planning so hard for a winter baby so he can be home with me the whole 12 weeks

DH is a grad student, and our university generally doesn't provide any paid maternity / paternity leave.

but our hours are flexible, so he'll be home for a bit....

mine was given a day. So with his 2 days off for the week, then the extra day.

He probably would have been giving more, but it was Christmas week and the store was crazy busy.

My DH works for the city we live in and he has saved up time for the past 3 years and he has a total of 3 months off and is taking it all at once when our DD arrives. He plans on using this time to help me with my c-section recovery and I will be going back to work before him actually. He hopes to also find another job while he is home with us since he is unhappy with his job so he has to use this time up so it doesnt go to waste.

Re: How much time (if any) is your hubby getting for the baby (maternity leave)

DH gets one week paternity and then he is also going to take one week after the baby is born. He gets 3 weeks vacation but I told him to save 2 weeks for days when we all want to take off together and for other days when I'm home on maternity. I know I'm going to have a lot of help in the first couple of weeks so I'd rather him save his time for when people might not be around too much to help.

He also gets off every other Friday in the summer so he'll have that time as well.

Probably 2 weeks. Luckily he has some flexibility so he can start the 2 weeks when I deliver rather then having to put in for time in advance. I don't know if he gets paternity leave Chat Icon

When DH first started with his company, their policy for paternity was 12 WEEKS! It's a French Investment Bank and they had a European policy. But since then, their policy has changed and now he gets 4 weeks paternity leave. It's still a lot so I consider us lucky!

Mine took 4 vacation days. He just started his job about four months ago and they do not have a paternity leave policy, so he didn't have much time.

My husband can take up to a month, but i'm only having him take 2 weeks. My aunt will be here so it will be pointless for him to take off that much time. I'd rather he use those other 2 weeks when i go back to work in october. Chat Icon

My boyfriend took 2 weeks off. It was great having him around to help out during this first few days... it was rough!

No paternity but he'll take off 3-4 weeks.
