How much to install a fireplace?
Does anyone know the approximate cost to having a real wood-burning fireplace installed? The wall is an outside wall, so the chimney wouldn't have to go through another room or anything.

Not sure about wood but I bought a condo and the owner had recently installed a gas fireplace with a beautiful wood mantle and marble inside that - with the install and proper venting, all that jazz plus she picked a nice mantle and marble -- all in, it was $9,500.
She showed me receipts and whatnot. It was a "HEAT-N-GLO" brand.
Of course, if you pick a mantle that's cheaper or marble/granite that's cheaper that could obviously change the price to be less. She did, from what I can tell, pretty high end choices - I'm not a trained eye but I was pretty sure.
Pics - this is my old condo, I have since bought a detached home...
