How much travel time for south shore Suffolk to central NJ, midday, midweek?
Please don't move this post -- I have a meeting in central NJ (Fairfield) around 2pm next week and I am trying to estimate my travel time.
Mapquest says 2hours, BingMaps say 90minutes. I'm hoping to do it in less than three hours but should I plan for longer? It's an important client meeting so I definitely don't want to be late but I'm being cheap and don't want to have a sitter for longer than I need. I know -- cheapo.
TIA.

If mapquest says 2 I would think you can make it in 2 a def under 3 even with traffic.

Google Maps's traffic feature has a traffic at specific day and time based on past data. Its pretty accurate. Just make sure you change the time as you move along the route.

If it says 2 hours, estimate 2.5 at least since it is an important client meeting. You never know with the bridge. Many times they just randomly close lanes for construction on the bridge and route 80. And FYI Fairfield is considered North Jersey.

Thank you -- I am very Jersey-ignorant.

I would definitely give yourself 2.5 hours if you need to take the GW. The cross bronx gets a lot of truck traffic in the late mornings. I always notice that when I go to queens ( I come from NJ).
