How often do you take off of work?

Before this whole pandemic, how often would you take off work. I changed jobs 6 months ago and just found out that basically 6 months out of the year are blacked out and we are unable to take off unless it's an absolute must.

I have taken 2 days off since I have been there and already we are in another "blackout period".

Almost never. And when I do I still answer emails on my phone.

I get 20 days and i take off all 20 days throughout the year. (this also includes sick time) I can roll over a week if need be but I don't.

I started a new job 6 months ago and have taken off 2 days since then (I didn't have any days until January because of my probationary period). My company was closed between Christmas and New Years though. I was planning on a day in March and a couple of days in June but, the things I was taking off for have now been canceled. Hoping to take some vacation in August.

I take all my vacation and personal days and usually end up forfeiting sick time because if I took all of it, it would raise suspicion. We are not allowed to roll over days.

HR actually just sent out an email that we have to use our vacation time even while working from home because they are not allowing us to roll over days into the next year (Our vacation calendar goes from September to August).

When I worked full time in an office, I would take one week off for a full vacation break and the other I would break up in pieces for 3 day weekends when I could. I also had blackout dates due to heavy advertising months.

I only called out sick when I had fever and/or the poops, vomiting. So it wasn’t very often I’d use a sick day.

Working from home, I never missed a day in 12 years but to be fair, my business is only “busy” every other month. But on my busy month, I powered through anything. Even when I got married, my deadline was 2 days before my wedding. Between planning and everything else, I made sure the work was complete and at printer before the wedding.

DH Never takes off. 14+ years , 6 days a week , 12-14 hours a day. We took off for our honeymoon 9 years ago and a few times during the years, we took a couple 5 day cruises. He has Never been home this much in all of his adult life. It’s difficult for him

I only work part time but I do a couple of hours a day. I almost never take off. If I am going on vacation I will usually check emails throughout the day and work an hour here or there.

Even when I am off I am not off. When we are on vacation, I still work 2-4 hours a day.

I usually lose about a weeks vacation by the end of the year and you don't get to carry it to the next year.

I have 21 vacation days a year + sick days. We don’t have official company “blackout days” just certain times during the year that really require us to be in the office. We are a team of 5 & work together as best we can to plan vacation time accordingly.

Whenever I am on vacation I have my emails on my phone & also travel with my company laptop.

I get 20 days (sick & Vacation). I can rollover 5 to the 1st quarter of the next year. I usually take 2 full weeks (1 and then 1) and then random days here or there. I can take 1/2 days where I don't use my time off because I work so many hours anyway. I usually have about 3 or 4 days to roll over. If DD is sick or even if I am not feeling well, but can still work, I work from home.

Wow! You guys are much more dedicated than I am! I have about 24 Vacation Days a year. I probably take about 18 to 20 per year. I can roll over any amount as long as we don't have more than 52 days in the bank. I hardly ever take any Sick Days because thankfully I don't get sick often. When I'm on vacation I almost never check email. Even now that we're all working from home, I log off at the end of the day and don't log on again until the morning.

I take everything! I’m entitled to the time as part of my employment package, so I wouldn’t forfeit any of it.

I don’t use all sick says though because it comes back to bite you in the ass during your review if you’re sick “too much”.

But I’m definitely more a work to live, not live to work type of person.

I teach so I get a lot of time off. With that said, I take 2-3 personal days a year.

I typically use all of my vacation time each year. I don't really get sick, but can use my sick time to care for family. Now that my kids are older, they don't get sick that often. Luckily I have always worked for managers that encourage use of paid time off.

This year will be different I'm sure. We can carry over 40 hrs, but I anticipate the company may allow more time to be carried over, they are not sure yet.

I take every single day I am entitled to. We cannot bank or carry forward any days - it's all use or lose. I make sure I take every day I am entitled to. I get 36 days a year plus holidays. I work hard when I'm there, but when I'm home or on vacation, I'm off the clock.

That being said, I try to take at least one day every month. I find it's the only way I can survive without being completely burnt out. It's intense when I'm there.

I accrue about 25 vacation days per year. Over the course of a year, I usually take 2 separate 1 week vacations and then will take 1-2 days whenever I have a reason to - long weekends away, or the day before I have a party or something like that. I almost always have at least 12-15 days accrued and available to take.

I accrue 21 sick days over the year. I rarely take sick days - occasionally I'll take a "mental health day" (1-2 x's per year), but for the most part only take a sick day if I really am sick (as of now, I probably have close to 5 months of sick time available)
