how old was your child when they stopped using a bottle and went to a sippy

Allison will be 11 months on thursday. The dr todl me at the 10 month checkup that now was the time. He said go cold turkey three dasy with no bottle and she will adjust. First of all i need three days where we have no plans so i can be home while this is going on. Secondly i have tried every sippy out there and nothing woirks exceptt the not spill proof and then there is juice all over and even then she doenst like it that much.

I went cold turkey with both milk and sippy at 12 months and Jacob took right to it...

She might not be ready yet.. Don't get discouraged because she will eventually get it...

around that time. We kept bottles for the morning feeding- mainly because she drinks in her crib or in our bed, and she made a mess at first...

We went cold turkey with milk and with sippies. The Avent ones have been the best for our needs.

I went cold turkey at 12 months. He didnt even miss it, he would ask but I just gave him his cup instead.

My sister in law lived with me while my brother was deployed, and we took my neice off the bottle at 11 months. We tried the nuby cups first, and while she liked that she could chew them she had a hard time with the weight, so we then gave her an avent with handles and no problems at all

Both my kids were off the bottle at their first birthday, or just after. They did take to a sippy and that was the easy part. If they are not fully on the sippy, I don't think you should worry just yet. You have time.

My son used a bottle occasionally from 1 -3 months, then nursed eclusively from 3-6 mo because of circumstances and then refused a bottle and started using a sippy at 6 mo. In the beginning he would only take it without the valve to make it spill proof, but when he started to really like it, I slipped it in. He nursed with the sippy until 11 months...then it was all sippys.

My 2 older ones were about a year or so. They took to the sippy and somehow I just weaned them. My DS #2 is 14 months and I still give him a bottle 3x a day. I dont care or see what the big deal is about them switching over, I know he will adapt and he likes it right now. Thats just for milk, he takes other beverages in sippies.

At about a year we made the switch. We had to use non-spillproof ones at first til she got the hang of it. BRU sells ones by Especially for Baby that just have the spout. Once she could handle that we went to the spillproof ones.
