Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
Almost 3 months to MI for a week. She was great on the plane. Slept the entire time in her carseat.

Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
We have taken DS to Florida each year starting when he was 10 months. We fly out ofour local airort to cut down on the overall travel time and he's done fine. I won't lie and say he's been perfect everytime, but some fussing is totally worth a week of alone family time.

Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
DS was 13 months old and we went to Mystic, CT. We drove and it took around 3 hours.
Tips: Leave either at night (their bedtime) or their naptime so they sleep through all or most of the trip. And mainly, do not expect your home schedule to be upheld on a vacation. I made the mistake of expecting that and I was disappointed until I said "Oh well, whatever happens, happens" as far as sleeping/eating/napping schedules.

Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
We took our son on a cruise last month (he was 8 months). We had a great time but it was definately hard. It left out of LA and he did great with flying, but the time change was a bit of a problem.
We took Princess - they provided Stage 1/2 Gerber baby food. I make all of DS's food so he wouldnt eat the Gerber and pretty much ate sweet potatos, apples and cereal (plus his formula) all day/night! From my experience, Princess was not the most child friendly line. There were a lot of older people who were not thrilled to see children in the dining room. Overall though it was fun and he had a blast in the pool and at the beach!!!

Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
At five months we went to disney. It was a wonderful vacation for dh and I because she was so adaptable at this point.
We went back at 16 months and it was so much more centered around her and her routines. We were able to work pretty well around her routines though.
This summer at 2 1/2 it should be very interesting.....

Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
We took Kaydyn to Disney when she was 5 months old, upstate when she was 9 months and to Disney again when she was 10 months. She is a great traveller!!! She did great on the plane rides, she was good in the car.
At 8 months your baby will probably be crawling and possibly cruising. It's just going to be a matter of following them around all day long. When we went to Disney with Kaydyn when she was 10 months she had a blast just crawling/cruising around the hotel room.
I think a cruise is a great idea!!!

Re: How old was your child when you first took them on vacation
we went to Fl when she was 5 weeks and on a cruise when she was 6 months. It wasnt overwhelming at all EXCEPT the BS in the airport. They make you fold up everything and put it through the belt while holding the baby. That part just totally sux!
