How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
unassisted (without you holding them)? just curious
Hannah will be 5 months and just starting sitting (tripod) but she gets tired and topples pretty fast or throws herself backwards (which scares me) She also forgets to use her arms sometimes and folds in half (head to feet).
All your DC look like they sit pretty good. Did you practice with them?

Arounf 5 1/2 months but she'll still throw herself backwards sometimes. So I don't leave her unattended.

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
Steven's a little over 5 months and he sits pretty good now. But not perfect. He still topples after a while. He can ALMOST bring himself to a sitting position from lying down, but he can't quite get it on his own.

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
5 months old, but she had been sitting tripod style since she was 3 1/2 months. By 6 1/2 months she could get into the sitting position on her own.

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
DS never sat tri-pod style, but he's been sitting unassisted since he was 5 months. I would sit behind him with my legs to the side and after sitting for a minute or so, he'd topple to one side or the other. Now at 6 months he can sit for long periods of time by himself. In the morning, after he has breakfast, I put him on the floor with some toys. I sit him up and put pillows behind him in case he falls over and I go walk the dog (just in the yard.) He's always right where I left him.

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
ok so DD is not "behind"
My friend was saying that she was and felt it was because she was sick for a month
eta: I know all babies develop at different ages, but she made me feel like DD was the only 5 month old not able to sit unassisted and said she would be concerned.

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
I just decided to try just before 5 months and saw she could do it. Not always steady but if I put her into position she'll stay...if she feels like it of course.

She's definitely NOT behind. Tell your friend to go bite it. Who made her the expert in child development?! I was actually just talking to one of my students parents yesterday and was showing her pictures of Luca in the park. Ad she was like, "he can sit up all by himself like that?" Her daughter is 8 months old and just starting to try to sit up. All babies will do things when they're ready.
ETS- and just to give you another example to make you feel better, my best friends DD is 3 weeks younger than Luca and doesn't really roll over. She can kind of roll from belly to back, but doesn't even make an attempt at back to belly.

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
Jodi- Matty is the same age as Hannah and cannot sit unassisted! He also hasn't really rolled over! At three months he rolled over from tummy to back about three times and then I haven't seen him do it since. He has not yet rolled over from back to front. All he wants to do is have us hold him so that he can stand- that's what he loves- he wants to try and stand all day!
Every kid is different! Hannah is gorgeous and sleeps well and is happy-tell your friend to be quiet!

Re: How old was your DC when (s)he sat up
Tripod was about 4.5 months. But, I couldn't leave him alone because he would fall over, a little before 6 months he was sitting well on his own.
