Re: How old was your DC when they held their own bottle?
I'm not sure but I think she meant self-feed. He can hold his bottle and prob has been since 5 months or before but not to self-feed.

Re: How old was your DC when they held their own bottle?
Genevieve held her own bottle at 4 months, but she was a crazy kid that did everything before the typical milestones.
Charlie is 6 months and wants nothing to do with it. She looks at me, like "Why should I do it, if you will?"

DD held it straight up at 5 months, but she has always loved her baba. Never misses a meal.

Re: How old was your DC when they held their own bottle?
I honestly don't care if he does - lol. As many of you know, Jordan has bad reflux and does not like to drink from his bottle. It's always a struggle and we try any way we can to get him to drink. If we left it to him, he'd NEVER drink his bottle!!! He started crawling a few weeks ago like a maniac and is pulling himself up on his knees so I guess he's gifted in other areas - lol.
I just hate when the therapists make you feel like something is wrong with your child

Ds didn't hold his until like 15months. All due to laziness.
DD is following the same path. She is 10.5 months and refuses to hold it. She will hold it and play around with it but when it comes to feeding time - that's what I'm there for .

Re: How old was your DC when they held their own bottle?
DS is 4 months old and has been trying to hold it since he was born . Sereiosly though..probably at almost 3 months he started to hold and started doing it more often around the time he turned 4 months. He now holds it but then plays with it..takes it out..looks at it and put it back in. I still have to help him tip it to the right angle also. In general I still mostly hold it for him. I haven't considered it a full holding the bottle until he can keep it up and in his mouth and eating.

Ethan at 8.5 months barely does it now. He knows how, but prefers me to do it

Re: How old was your DC when they held their own bottle?
Not sure how old she was, but she has been holding it for a while on her own. She will be 10 months tomorrow..so maybe around 5 1/2-6 months?

She meant self-feed?? I really think that 5 months is on the young side to not just hold the bottle, but to feed themselves consistently, let alone your DS who probably has a bad association with the bottle. I really would just brush it off.

DD is 5 and a half months and will grab for the bottle and grasp it with her hands but cannot hold it upright herself for more than a few seconds. I think it's too heavy for her. I wouldn't be worried at all.
DD as well. We "practice" but I don't expect her to be able to do it on her own for a while!

Re: How old was your DC when they held their own bottle?
Kaydyn did not hold her bottle until 10 month.
Ainsley starting holding her bottle about 2 weeks ago. She was 5 1/2 months. She can hold it most of the time but it still falls every once in a while. Once it falls she can't pick it back up, we have to hand it to her again.
