How old was your DS when they started walking on their own?

DS has been walking holding on since he was 8 months...I thought he would be walking on his own by now. He is 10 1/2 months. He will stand for a few seconds on his own and last week took 2 steps by himself but it seems like he gets a little scared and once he realizes he isn't holding onto anything he gets the "oh $hit" expression and than looks for something to grab on to. I know he is very early and I am not rushing him I am just shocked he isnt walking yet being he did everything else so early.

same here, dd has hit ALL of her milestones early...she has been cruising since 8 months. Now at 10.5 months, she will let go for a few seconds and she took one step the other day before freaking out and reaching for FIL's pants to grab onto I can tell she is scared when not holding onto something...I think she will be walking by 12 months but we'll see

Both my kids walked when they were 14 months old.

My oldest 1wk before his 1st b-day
My middle guy 2wks after 1st b-day
My baby will be 1 on Friday and today he took about 9steps but then he fell down

My son was a fully walking child, all on his own at 10.5 months!! He was so tiny walking all around. So cute!

first steps around 12 1/2 months...fully walking by 13 months

Did not start to walk until he was 11 months.

both twins were fully walking by 10 momths..

Took her 1st steps by herself a week before her 1st birthday. Walking all over the place on her own a week before she turned 13 months.

She was walking around assisted at 9 months.

DD was walking a week after her first birthday completely by herself.

Fully walking by 13 months.

Paige started cruising at like 10 1/2 months and a month later started walking. Granted, she isnt the greatest at it she is still wobbly but thats all she wants to do now. Walk, walk, walk.

8 months steps, full out walking by 11 months.

a week after he turned 10 months he was fully walking. I thought it would have been later since he did not crawl till 9 mos.

DS was a full walker around 11 months.

He was cruising forever..probably from around 8 months old..

I thought he'd walk before a year, but he took his sweet time . He'd take a few wobbly steps here and there but he didn't FULLY start walking until 13 months .

took his first unassisted steps at 11 months.

Is there anything I can do to help him feel more secure or safe about taking steps on his own?

my dd refused to go forward utnil 14 mos she would side step, etc but the second she went forward she would fall down into crawling position....and then on the same day i totalled my car (w/out her in it thank goodness!) - we had a reg scheduled drs appt and low and behold while we were waiting, she decided she wanted a book and off she went ...and has not stopped since....

there is nothing you can do, just relax and enjoy him and when the time is right he will do it!

Both 11 months.

DD was 11 months when she started walking. She really never cruised so I wasn't expecting it.
