I don't remember when I realized that there was no big fat man in a red suit coming down the chimney...maybe about the time I realized we didn't have an acutal chimney.
but I will say this...I honestly and truly believe in Santa Klaus. I believe he was a real like person who did beautiful things...and his memory and spirit are what drive and cause US to do beautiful, magical and special things for each other.
I believe that he wanted to remember those three wise kings who brought Jesus gifts. I believe he wanted to do that for people who needed it. and I believe that to this day, his spirit is in all of us, Jew, Muslim, Christian alike at this time of year...when we remember how important family and love and friendship and celebrating life truly are.
there is nothing wrong with having a little magic in our lives. nothing wrong with keeping the spirit of ol' Saint Nick.
it's not a lie to me, when I tell my son that santa exists b/c I believe he does, through me..through my husband...through all of us.
this! So true!!

I was in 4th grade...in Catholic school. My teacher told me. I cried and cried and cried and my mom actually went down to the school to speak with the teacher. I think that was the only time my parents ever spoke to a teacher on my behalf. I still remember telling my mom...and the realization hit me that there was no Easter Bunny....or Tooth Fairy....all in one shot. I was devastated.
