How soon after you moved in did you go around the introduce yourself to the neighbors?

I was wondering did you make the first move or did you wait for the neighbors to come say hello??

when my sis/bil finally decided on house they were interested in they walked the block and introduced themselves right then. Im too chicken.. We are about to buy a house and thinking I may do once we move in.

I did not know when I moved in that apparently all my neighbors knew each other. So one by one they would wave or come over and said hello. It was akward for me not used to that! So to answer your question I would start out with a wave once you get settled and the weather gets warmer. Hopefully they will come to you first though.

We didnt go introduce ourselves to anyone but had 2 neighbors stop over and have had a bunch of people stop to say hi when I am walking the dog.

We have a very friendly neighborhood and Im not used to it. I grew up in a neighborhood where everyone kept to themselves

We closed on our house in December which made it harder to meet the neighbors - no one was outside.

As my DH and father were doing work on the house, some of the neighbors would come out and introduce themselves.

My DH has met more neighbors than I have since he's out doing yard work, and I'm usually in and out quickly with our DS.

Now that it's nicer and I take my DS for walks, I've met more people.

We live in a great family-oriented neighborhood, and everyone knows eachother.

As the weather gets nicer, you'll meet more neighbors. I'm sure they're all curious to find out who the "new people" are.

We didn't. Our immediate neighbors on both sides introduced themselves to us. As for the rest of the block, we met them over time just being outside. Also, we have a dog, so we met many people while out walking.

our neighbors came over to us. There was such a mess at our house, that the first thing we started doing was weeding (we bought in July). So the neighbors saw us out there and come over. 2.5 years later, we still have neighbors come up to us and tell us what a great job we have done on the house (aka: it was the ugly house on the block) and introduce themselves to us. It's a really long block with lots of neighbors. we are the closest with 4 houses right around us. Great neighbors. One house actually had a BBQ to welcome us to the block and for them to get to know each other again or for the first time. The block was very divided by this one ugly house, so we brought a neighborhood together. Some times neighbors are great!

We live in a community so everyone knew about us before we even moved in, which was nice and weird at the same time! We have a friend who's sister lives all the way on the other side of the development who heard about us moving in and even knew our wedding date!

We actually already introduced ourselves to our future neighbors on one side. They happen to be outside a few times we stopped by to check on the house. They are soooo nice!!!

We have lived here 3 years and don't know any of our neighbors - I've never even seen anyone it's weird

We are going to be moving to a new house and I probably won't go talk to the neighbors unless I see them outside. Call me a scrooge but I can't stand people and just want to be left alone...

we've met a few of our neighbors and I've been here a little more than 2 weeks. I introduce myself while waking my dog, she's a great conversation starter because she'll run up to people and lick them. The woman across the street came by and rang our bell to say hi which I thought was nice and some people just saw us pulling into the driveway and came over to say hi.

We are closing on FRiday and already met one neighbor, he was outside doing work when we looked at the house so we went over to ask him questions about the house.

I guess we will just meet the others as we go, it is going to be nice weather and we are outside a lot. I am not the type to ring bells, but there is nothing wrong with that if you do.

We didn't introduce ourselves, but we are friendly and wave/say hello when our neighbors are outside. Everyone keeps to themselves in our neighborhood and we're no different.

We spent a lot of time outside, and everyone came over and introduced themselves to us within the first month! Some came over with gifts. I also took DS for walks, and still meet TONS of people that way--our neighborhood is SO friendly!

We met our neighbor when we flooded her kitchen (we are attached to one person being that we're in a condo)... We had no idea that the piping needed to be made larger so when we did wash on one of our very first days on moving in, all our dirty water seeped through to her side... So that was an interesting way to meet...

Other have just came by or waved etc... or called us over to "warn" us about other neighbors

We haven't met any yet. We haven't officailly moved in either. I am there daily and see them, but honestly, Im not getting a friendly vibe. The Chrysler 300 family (they have about 4 of them) see us, we waved and said hello they kept on walking. The other chick on the other side, I caught her peeking through the fence when I was outside with DS. She has yet to SAY anything to us either.

We waited for the neighbors to say hello. A couple stopped by right when they saw the moving van out front, but we met most of them while doing yardwork.

Our neighborhood has "front porch Tuesdays" -- even # houses host one Tuesday, then odd # houses host the next week. You hop from house to house and have drinks and snacks. It's a great way to get to know the neighbors.

Our block is very friendly (or nosy )… we didn’t even have a chance to go around to introduce ourselves bc before we even moved in neighbors were coming up to us while we were working on the house. Our neighbor on one side gave us a case of beer and one made us cookies.

We are on a really friendly block so we had a few come over to welcome us. It was so nice they brought cookies and a case of beer over

all of ours came over the day after we closed, they are all so friendly! I really liked that they all came over, it was so nice

we've been meeting some people since moving in 6 months ago...hoping the warmer weather will make it a bit easier. sorta shy when it comes to that!

Most of my neighbors came by to introduce themselves before we were even fully moved in. We didn't formally meet a few of them for almost a year though - just friendly waves and gestures. I never thought to go around. We did have a newer neighbor move in around the corner and I brought over bread. I guess I've always seen it as the existing folks job to meet and greet.
