how soon to move to IUI+inj vs. IUI+clomid

I have done 2 clomid cycles. One was 50 mg clomid+ timed BD, and another one is 100 mg clomid +IUI. Both are negative. How many cycles would you give to clomid before moving to injectables? I know injectables have better outcomes, but less controlled and higher chance of multiples.

I didn't respond at all to femara which is similar to clomid. I needed injectables from the very first iui in order to stim and develop follies. I would say it depends how u respond and how aggressive u and your dr want to be- but don't forget there's always an element of luck and just bc this protocol didn't work this time doesn't mean it won't work next time!

My first round of Clomid didn't produce any results and I was so miserable on it that my doc went right to injectibles after my first Clomid cycle. But- I did Hyperstimulate with the injectibles so I only got to do one round of that then had to go right to IVF.

I responded to Clomid but kept getting BFN's. I was moved to injectibles and respond well to those also, but still have BFN's

i think its all a matter of how well you respond - your RE will probably start you on a low dosage to see how you respond before upping anything anyway. They tend to be cautious when it comes to those drugs as well.

I did 4, all BFN.

It also depends on age and dx.

I went straight to IUI + inj, but that was a personal choice I felt comfortable with. I think there are a lot of variables to consider first.

For DH and I it was a no-brainer because he has a health condition he needs to take meds for and we needed to move quickly. We have unexplained infertility, so we wanted to up our chances.

I tried Clomid alone (through GYN) for 3 cycles in the summer and nothing I did have bad side-effects on it

thats a tough one cause you respond OK to clomid. it seems if you have 2 follies with clomid i dont see a definite need to move on to injectables. i just dont see how it would up your chances if you are producing mature follies with clomid alone. for many of us clomid does nothing so its a natural step to move to injectables. but since the goal of both protocols is to produce follies, im not sure what benefit you will have from injectables..

I never did clomid, only inject+IUI, result on round #2, I responded very well on injectable.

I did 4 rounds of Clomid and got PG on my 2nd round of injectables.
