How to handle situation with SIL
I am having a female adult get together/party next week with some friends and family members. My SIL just emailed and asked if it is ok to bring my 4 1/2 year old niece. She said she would like it.
I really don't want my niece there but what should I do? I want my SIL to come but she may not if her daughter can't help.
I need some advice.
TIA

How about a reply something like this:
"i'm sorry but no other children were invited, I hope you are able to find a sitter because I am looking forward to having you included in our ladies night"

Re: How to handle situation with SIL
Will alcohol be served or will there be topics of discussion inappropriate in the presence of a child? If so, I would explain that this party is not the type of event that is appropriate for a child to attend and while you love your niece and would like to see her, this event is not the time or place. Why can't your SIL have someone watch her daughter?

I think that's a perfectly fine response.

Yes there will be alcohol and possibly inapproriate discussions.
My SIL can't have someone watch her daughter b/c her mother will be here (at the party) and her husband and her are separated and he is not the greatest person in my mind.
