how to make your dog less aggressive towards people?
quinn is 3 now, a maltese... and he used to be so friendly with everyone... now he growls and nips. it's embarrassing and frustrating and i hate it. i don't know why he's developed such a 'tude and don't know how to control it. has this happened to anyone else?

What exactly does he do and when does he do it?? I see you have another dog. Sometimes this happens they start to relate more to the dogs than people. This happens alot with birds as well. Do you socialize him alot? especially with people? Did this just come out of no where?

is it to anyone? Or just men, just woman, or just children?
I would def make sure you are not letting him run the household. Smaller dogs have a tendency to got away with a lot more than bigger dogs bc they can't do that much damage.
I would also have anyone that comes over toss him a treat before he gets the opportunity to nip at them. If he nips at them and then you give him a treat, its basically rewarding him for nipping, so it must be done before he has the chance to nip.
Also, you may want to watch the show "Its me or the dog" on animal planet. They show a lot of repeats and they just recently had a dog on with the same issues.

I LOVE THAT SHOW!!! Victoria rocks!!! Also The dog whisperer. I learned so much from those two shows its amazing. I tape EVERY episode of both of them. I enjoy Dogtown as well.... You can definately get some answers on any of these. My dog watches these shows with me as well. Its the funniest thing ever.

I am starting dog training on Sunday. My two Chihuahuas need the training desperately. One of them is very nasty around other people and doesnt stop barking.

Aggression is a tricky behavior and I would suggest seeking professional training. If you don't know what you're doing it could make things worse.

I tape it everyday and it helped us through the first year with Jasmine...We have a Rottie who is turning one next week and she is completely the opposite...she is a mush and I have watched this show since we got her..it works, Victoria Stillwell is great!!
