Re: How would you handle this neighbor situation?

I lived in apartments for years and was on both sides of the noise issue. I found it best to confront the neighbors in person about the issue. Ring their doorbell, introduce yourselves, and talk it out face to face. All other options (notes, banging on walls/floors/ceilings, involving supers, etc.) don't work as well. Trust me!

It looks like you live at Melrose Place, I think you should call Sydney:

But seriously, any chance you're being FRAMED, i.e., are the "noices" coming from a different apartment and she thinks its you and DH?

*I give her extra credit for calling you neighBOORS that's a pretty snazzy double entendre....

Send a note back admitting you're too loud but sometimes you can't hear each other when she's shaving her poosay.

Here's the other background story for your enjoyment... (copy/pasted from LIW, written in May... not actually yesterday)

Okay, so a little background info.

Moving into the new place back in August and I see a girl who is also moving. I ask her, "moving in or moving out" and she says, "moving out." She asked where I was moving and I told her, and she says, "GOOD LUCK! " And now I'm kinda freaking out because I'm in CA all alone (Steve was driving our car across the country) and the girl says, "Oh well the french woman who lives downstairs from you is a TOTAL PSYCHO. Good luck with thatChat Icon " And she leaves.

Fast forward to yesterday.

Steve and I are walking downstairs and see the "crazy french lady" outside of our place.

She says (pretend I'm telling this story with a horrible french accent): "Did I wake you zis morning?"

Me: Umm, no. Why? Chat Icon

Crazy french lady: Oh I'm so sorry. I was shaving my poosay (p*ssy with french accent!) and I thought maybe it woke you up.

Me: A cross between Chat Icon and Chat Icon

Crazy french lady: Oh yes, my cat... she has zee fleas, so I must shave 'er.

had the same thing happen to us when we first moved into our coop. We call her the crazy lady upstairs...she said my alarm clock was waking her up every morning and that the tv was too loud (at 7pm) and that my DH had his music to loud.

How did I deal? For a week, everytime I turned on my tv, I would run upstairs and ring her bell and ask if she could let me in so I could make sure the volume was ok...after a week she started telling me that "it was fine" and then she just stopped answering the door all together!Chat Icon

I would ignore it. If you say something it may make it all worse. Esp if she is "crazy".

I would write a response back as follows:

Dear Neighbors:

As of today, we have stopped listening to music, talking, walking, playing on the computer, cooking, showering, climbing in and out of bed and moving around in general in the hopes of creating a more comfortable environment for you. Sorry for the inconvenience of living a normal everyday life. Thank you too ... and have a wonderful day!

By the way, I am happily attaching a dictionary in the hopes that your next note to us will be literate.

Oh god it is her. So this should be interesting when you do try and talk to her. Try telling her that you and hubby can't think straight upstairs with her loudly shaving her p*ssy. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
