Hurricane strategies!
Yes, on the D&F board
How do you plan on staying "on track" while cooped up in the house with nothing to do but eat?
I just went shopping and bought my bananas, strawberries, special k cracker chips, and other (not too bad for you) goodies. I bought 2 health magazines to keep me motivated. We're going to my ILs so I plan on bringing a lot of MY food!
What about you!?

Re: Hurricane strategies!
I have my normal bread products in the house along with oatmeal (I dont mind it cold) and some healthier dry cereals...i bought green peppers and red peppers since they dont need to be refrigerated. we have a BBQ so we froze chicken and figure if the electricity goes out it will defrost and we can grill it and eat it! lol
Hoping it's not too bad! I have my plyometric workouts that I can do and if there is elecricity still, we have the treadmill in the basement!

Re: Hurricane strategies!
Aren't you glad you got your treadmill Lauren?
I want to get in a workout but I think my ILs might think I'm crazy when I start busting out with push ups. Then again they probably think Im crazy already!

Re: Hurricane strategies!
DH ran to Duane Reade and bought me trail mix and mixed nuts... we have lots of bars, and Special K chips and stuff.
I am making chili for tonight. We have a gas stove where I can make whole wheat pasta, etc.
My new exercise bike tracks everything on battery power, and we have tons of batteries so I hope I'm good to go.
I fell way of track last night, but I'm back on track as of this morning.

Re: Hurricane strategies!
I bought ingredients to make turkey chili, so we will have that for dinner tonight and tomorrow. I bought pork rinds, which are low carb and still fill that snack/junkfood craving. We went to Ben's deli Thursday night for dinner so I brought home a bunch of dill pickles, also good for snacking.

Shoot! turkey jerky would have been a good idea...and pickles are a GREAT call! Why weren't you at the supermarket with me?! lol

Actually though, my shopping wasn't great. Up until recently, we were planning to go to MA Sat morning and come home Sat night (for a pig roast!). So when I bought stuff, I was thinking it was just for Sunday. We don't have much else other than the chili ingredients. Luckily, we'll be able to go out to lunch today before the storm starts, and maybe I'll have leftovers to bring home.

Re: Hurricane strategies!
I'm too nervous about my family to eat much (virtually every single one of my aunts, uncles and cousins live in a mandatory evacuation area).
I'll probably be cleaning and organizing a lot being stuck in my place for so long. Not concerned about working out this weekend.

Re: Hurricane strategies!
We have tons of fruit and healthy snacks in the house so I'm not worried about eating. As for working out, I can do yoga and stretching from memory if necessary. Also have resistance bands and hand weights, etc. Stay safe everyone!

Re: Hurricane strategies!
I am totally pigging out! Not worried about eating. I ran this morning and will run MOnday outside if the weather is good, or on the treadmill... so my exercise is staying on track.

Re: Hurricane strategies!
Switched my long run to today, have my gear that I use with my clients ready to go for the morning, and I don't keep snacks in the house. So I have some strawberries and then my regular stuff. Hoping to be able to at least get in a run tomorrow!

Re: Hurricane strategies!
My strategy is just to try not to eat too much! And to pull up my gazelle from the basement (knew it would come in handy someday haha!) since I won't be able to make it to the gym tomorrow.

Re: Hurricane strategies!
Tomorrow I am focusing on weight training at home. My gym is closed and I need a break from running so I am taking off from cardio tomorrow-I never take a day off and that is not good, but running keeps me sane!
