I Am So Upset Ladies...Advice Needed On Failing My 1 Hour Gluecose Test
I just got the call. It was 191. I am so upset and worried!
Please, ladies, tell me this...how many of you had a level in the high 100's like this and ended up passing the 3 hour gluecose test? I need some reassurance or honesty maybe. Do you all think with a 191 level my chances are slim that I can possibly pass the 3 hour and I should expect a change of life in the last 14 weeks of my pregnancy.
I am so stressed now!
Thanks

I clocked in at a 164 and ended up failing the three hour test by 2 points. BUT keep in mind everyone is different and you might pass the 3 hour with flying colors. IF you do fail, don't worry...its not too bad!

Re: I Am So Upset Ladies...Advice Needed On Failing My 1 Hour Gluecose Test
I was in the 160s (don't remember exactly) and my docs didn't even send me for the 3 hour test...they felt confident from my results that I definately had GD and sent me right to the nutritionist.
To be honest having GD isn't the end of the world. I remember reading so much when I found out that I had it, reading all of the risks, but in all actuality it is very common and very managable through diet.
I went to the nutritionist, got some diet recommendations, all of which were very doable, and got a home test kit. I tested my blood sugar OFTEN. I got to know the foods/meals that I needed to stay away from completely because even if I thought there were safe they spiked my blood sugar, and I got to know the portion sizes of what I could have so that I wasn't deprived of anything.
Even though I questioned my doctor's opinion since they never sent me to the 3 hour --- I asked myself "what if it was just a mistake" many many times, it did end up that I was positive that I had GD because of the results of my home tests. My blood sugar did fluctuate a lot.
Sorry to post such a long reply but please know that it is very common and very managable. Please let me and the other ladies with experience know if you have any more questions or just need to vent about it, but it will totally be OK!

Re: I Am So Upset Ladies...Advice Needed On Failing My 1 Hour Gluecose Test
I just got my results yesterday and if it makes you feel better my # was 238!! I almost fell on the floor. I never had a glucose problem before!! They skipped the 3 hr. and I went right to the endocrinologist today. They put me on a diabetic diet which isn't terrible but will take some getting use to and I have to test my glucose 4X/day. If they don't see an improvement after a week they will add insulin shots too. I am very upset about it so I know how you feel but all I can do is whatever I have to so that the baby is healthy and ok. I'm not happy but I will manage.

Re: I Am So Upset Ladies...Advice Needed On Failing My 1 Hour Gluecose Test
Mine was 185 on the one hour and I passed the 3-hour, so you just do not know. People who "barely fail" the one hour have failed the 3- hour. Honestly, I think the one hour is not accurate, it is just a screening and I know more people who failed than passed. My guess is that your body just might need a little more time to process the sugar, which does not mean you have GD. I know how you feel, I was pretty upset, especially after seeing my score, but I did fine on the 3-hour, one of my numbers was elevated, but the dr said I did not have GD and I should just watch my diet. It's funny because I have no family history of diabetes, I was a marathon runner prior to getting pregnant - the thing is GD is something you cannot prevent, it's nothing you did wrong or ate wrong. Your body's functions change when pregnant. Try not to worry, you have a good chance of passing the 3 hour.
