I am throwing a baby shower and i am sooooo out of the loop

I have been so sick I haven't been going to weddings, wedding showers, or baby showers. I am lost!
The color scheme is Navy Blue, Baby blue, ivory and brown.
So what are the new fun things to have at showers? what are the new popular favors and drinks (or is still a huge sherbty alchol fruity punch thingy).


I am so out the loop. Help please. Just ideas, no vendors because I am a florida girl asking long island women for ideas for a Mass shower.

At my SIL's shower her mom made small diaper cakes for each table with some balloons. Instead of women fighting over who was going to take them home (LOL) they all went to the mom-to-be. I think her mom said she used a case of newborn diapers for all the centerpieces. If I were going to do this I would use size 1. I'm not sure many people go through an entire case of newborn size before the baby is on to size one.

At another shower the planners all crocheted really cute face-clothes for everyone. THey wrapped each one up with pretty ribbon and a mini rubber ducky. They were very cute.

At my shower each guest brought a book instead of a wishing well item. My MIL told my DH about it so he brought a book shelf we bought and everyone put the books on the shelf. It was very cute and I began DS's amazing book collection early.

Welcome back! Hope you're feeling better!!
My two favorite things at baby showers these days are:
1. a clothesline of clothes for the baby (easier to do if you know the gender of the baby)
2. a diaper cake with diapers and onsies and washcloths and toys

Not a fan of shower games.
I love chocolate or cookies as the favor.

My mom and friends had everyone write some advice on a piece of decorative paper and then she put them all together in a scrapbook about my shower with pictures of the shower, the invite, pictures of her and DH's mom at their showers, etc. It was very cute.

I love the book idea also...we did that and now my DDs have tons of books that everyone wrote a personalized message in when they got there!

My mom did a timer thing where she set the timer for different amounts of times and gave a prize to whoever's gift I was opening at that time...people liked it.

I don't need favors at a shower...unless they are a pretty decorated cookie (that tastes good) or something I can eat!
And I love sangria as the drink...my cousin had that this weekend at her shower and it was great! Very different from the usual champagne-sherbet punch!

on the pregnancy forum there were a few posts about games they liked at their showers.. one called dirty diaper sounded hilarous.

I made this for my sister's shower. You could make little ones in your color scheme for each table as center pieces?

One of the best things at my shower was the wishing well. My sister did a diaper wishing well. For every guest who brought a box of diapers, they were given a ticket to win the raffle prize- a beautiful wine basket. Aidan is 4 months old and I've yet to buy diapers!

My color scheme was blue, brown, and green. They just had balloons at the centerpieces.

I am glad you are back! I hope you are feeling better!

Okay, at my shower, something I really loved was that instead of cards, guests brought children's books to start the kidlets library! This was such a help and it was interesting to see what people liked!

I like shower games. We played Bingo and then because I was pregnant with twins, before I got there, guests took a piece of ribbon to guess my circumfrance! Boy, some people were not nice! LOL..it was fun, I am always up for anything!

I got two clothes lines. One was filled with bibs of babies' first "My first Christmas, Easter, etc...."

We also had it at a pub/restaurant so that clean up and set up were mininal. We had the personalized Hershey bars as the favor...very simple!
