I cant take the sinus pain anymore

Ive never had the best sinuses but good lord, every single day I have SO much sinus pain. I would say 5 out of 7 days of the week, I end up with a massive headache and have to go to bed the second I get home from work. My OB said its not uncommon for people with sinus issues to have them act up during pregnancy bc of all of the extra fluid your body produces....she said it increases your mucus too. She said that all of the extra blood flow can cause nasal passages to swell as well. There isnt much I can do for it. I use the neti pot everyday, hold or cold compress, Ive boiled water and stuck my head over it with a towel, steamy shower.

Its EVERYDAY. Seriously, I just lost it yesterday and was crying bc I am in constant pain and I cant do anything but lay down.

Has anyone else had this happen? It didnt happen with DS.

I feel your pain! I am having the same issue. I always had allergies and sinus problems, but like your OB said, pregnancy has made it worse. I wake up every morning congested and complete congestion in one nostril, I sneeze and blow my nose all day long - it is so frustrating. I have to sleep with my mouth open because I can't breathe through my nose - which makes my mouth dry

unfortunately we have a while to deal with this, I am due in December also.

I'm not experiencing your same pain, but I just wanted to send some hugs your way... I was going to suggest the neti pot, but you're already doing that.

Maybe check THIS out. My brother... who is NOT pregnant (lol) uses it. Check with your doc, though, before using anything, of course.

(The only nasal issue I have is bloody noses/dried blood that makes it hard to breathe through my nose at night, so I know pregnancy does affect the nasal passages... I guess it's just different for everyone.)

Since I am pregnant my sinus pressure and headaches have been really bad. I have learned how to use a netti pot and it has changed my world. It makes the pressure and headaches go away even if you are not stuffed up.

I'm sorry you're in pain. Have you tried a netti pot? What about warm or cold compresses on your face if you can lay down?

Thanks everyone. I use the neti pot almost daily and it helps for about half an hour and then its back. Im so miserable! Oh well, it is what it is I guess. Thanks for letting me vent!

Sorry that you are going through this! At the beginning of my pregnancy I had a terrible sinus infection. My GP prescribed an antibiotic and nasal spray (Rhinocort) safe for pregnancy. It helped within the first few hours. I have also been waking up with terrible sinus headaches Feel better!

Ive been using the neti pot and I just bought a humidifier for my bedroom. I keep all the windows closed, I don't take walks (especially when theres grass mowing goin on) and live in air conditioning.
