Did anyone NOT tell their boss/supervisor right away? Like I mean well into their 2nd trimester? I don’t feel like my job is at risk; or my pregnancy would affect my position.

It’s just that my boss is VERY moody and sometimes a real bi$%$ch; some days I just don’t want to talk to her (like today). She’ll literally walk right past you and not say anything; or just drop something in your inbox and keep walking. I just don’t feel like sharing my exciting news with her on days like these (which are common) when she’s just so unapproachable. I feel like she’s undeserving of knowing my good news. I would love to tell other people here; but I imagine its only right I let my boss know first.

I literally could wait until I’m 17 weeks and obviously showing before I say anything! I don’t HAVE to say anything right? It’s my decision to tell them when I’m ready even if it’s later on? (I’m 13 weeks now)

You can keep it a secret from your boss for as long as you'd like. When i told mine (i didn't really want to share the news either), he said "thank you for telling us in a timely manner - you don't HAVE to say anything ever if you don't want to".

I'd say to just find your boss on a good day and tell her the news. You'll be happier once it's out in the open Chat Icon

good luck!

I don't want to tell my boss but for the opposite reason. He gets WAY too excited for people when they come to HR to tell us they're expecting. He will ask a thousand questions and want to talk about it ALL of the time. He also likes to find articles for people, prints them out and leaves them on their desks... it's cute but also a bit much. I have a bet going with my co-worker over whether he or my mom will be more excited. I'm waiting until I'm out of my first tri-mester to tell both just because if something were to happen I would hate to then have to share bad news with them.

I would wait and tell her when you're ready. You will need to fill out paperwork at some point but that is way off so if you want to wait until you're showing and can't possibly hide it any longer it is totally up to you.

just told my boss today, i had to. im obviously showing and I would rather he found out through me and not the grape vine (plus a few friends in the office already knew).

it is 100% up to you though! there is no right or wrong time to tell, just whenever you feel comfortable.

Didnt tell my boss with my ds until after 20 weeks. I wear scrubs to work and was soo tiny with my second I was able to hide it. I also keep holding off cause i was 36 (now 37) and kept on waiting for something "bad" to happen. Im a nervous nelly and a horrible worrier. Thats why i waited. YOu dont have to say anything until your readyChat Icon

You don't have to tell your boss, but you may want to talk to HR so you understand your benefits.

My company's health insurance requires you fill out info regarding pregnancy in your first tri. Had I not spoken to HR, I would have not known that and may have had issues with coverage.

My job is female dominated and I think next time around, I'll wait as long as possible to tell anyone I'm pregnant.

I told my manager at 8 weeks, but nobody else at work will know until after my NT scan in a few weeks.

I had to tell them b/c we're doing a team outing this Friday that's physical and my dr obviously does not want me participating. So I had to tell them in order to skip it.
