I feel so liberated! No more fake nails!

May seem dumb....but I have had silk wraps for about 6-7 years. I decided that I was done with having them on...the money and time to have them done was not worth it anymore to me! So I had them taken off and just had a regular manicure!

Yes! Well today was longer because I need to soak and have them taken off....but nothing compared to that freakin process of having them filled!

I finally ripped off the gel wraps that I had been keeping up since my wedding. Although I loved having my nails done, it was becoming a chore and expense every couple of weeks. It's taking some time for them to grow out but it feels nice to be natural again!

Re: I feel so liberated! No more fake nails!

I couldn't wait to take my wraps off - Since I got married the Friday after Thanksgiving - I needed to get my nails done on Wednesday - I ended up getting them wrapped and doing the permanent french since I knew that I would have chipped my polish by Friday (I have a bad habit of not wearing gloves while washing dishes)

I kept up with them until the New Year - then they came off...I couldn't keep up with the price every week and half - I'm very clumsy - I cracked one or two every other day...Chat Icon

I LOVE being in and out in 25 minutes Chat Icon

I know the feeling. I ripped off my nails last week. They were so thin I had to get a gel manicure. Too bad I cracked the friggen nail 2 days after I got them done.
I can't wait until they're strong enough to get regular manicures. I've had mine for 9 years.Chat Icon

Re: I feel so liberated! No more fake nails!

I had them for over 10 years and took them off just before I met DH. They were too costly to maintain and I felt my time was better spent doing other things than sitting in a salon for a long period of time. Never again.

I haven't had tips for a while, but my nails had still been weak. I Just started using this new product that I LOVE. It's by Essie and it's called Millionails. They are getting so much stronger! You are supposed to use this for 3 months, then move on to "Billionails" and then "trillionails". So far...LOVING IT!!!!

I just took mine off last month and they're been breaking since then, but they never get long in the winter. I can't wait until the summer to have my own long nails again..I hated being in the salon for hours.

Re: I feel so liberated! No more fake nails!

I know what you mean, I took mine off a year ago and then put them on for a month only so they would look nice for the wedding and I could not wait for them to come off. Now it's been 5 months and they are strong and look great again! Use the nailtique stuff while you grow out the weakness.

It makes life sooo much easier than having to sit there every 2 weeks for over an hour.

Funny you should post this- I also took my silk wraps off in January - and I posted the same thing - how I felt so liberated!

Well, after more than a month of trying to do the "regular" manicure thing - I broke down and got silk wraps TODAY! haha

Really? I don't know if I will ever go back! Well we'll see when they start breaking I guess...that is how I got hooked in the first place. I don't want them long though

I went through that stage a few months ago and took all my wraps off. I hated having to maintain them, but after a few weeks I had them put back on. I just do not have nice nails w/out them. Chat Icon

I am the same as you -- without them, my nails look like absolute crap -- they crack, peel, etc. and look awful......I'd rather take an hour out of my day every 2 weeks to have them look nice....but believe me, if I had nice natural nails, I wouldn't bother...

Re: I feel so liberated! No more fake nails!

I haven't had wraps for about 6 years now. It was hard when I first took the wraps off b/c my nails were paper thin. It took about 6 months for them to completely grow out and grow in stronger. It was a HARD six months but once your nails grow in stronger it is great.

The down side is that I have to polish my nails about every other day since the polish chips so easily. It was a more finished look w/ the wraps but I love not being a slave to the nail place.

The polish I got today is Vanityfairest...its very natural and stays onChat Icon I figured it out...even if I got a manicure every week it is still cheaper than getting my wraps filled...especially the perm french
