I feel so sad today
Sad and hopeless. I can't stop reading about the immigration ban, worrying about what is going to come next.

I feel so sad today
I keep thinking of By the Waters of Babylon which is a story about post-apocalyptic New York. Haven't thought of it since reading it in a textbook in either middle or high school but it suddenly came to me last night.

Re: I feel so sad today
I am in mourning of what America once was. It was never perfect, but this goes against everything America stands for. We've lost all respect and I don't know how/if we'll ever get it back.

Re: I feel so sad today
DH and I have been really...just blah today. There's no other word to describe it.
He's Muslim, as most of you are aware.
JFK is literally a ten minute drive from our house and we considered heading over for the protest but we're both pretty shocked and feel like we've been punched in the gut. We just don't have it in us at the moment to be motivated.
We are worried. I am more worried than I'm letting on.
I thank god that we live in the neighborhood that we live in, where all of our neighbors are from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Guyana, Trinidad, India. We feel safe here. We are keeping each other safe here.
I am just so incredibly frightened that something is going to happen to him one day because of some hateful individual.

I'm sorry. There are just no words.
I also feel so sad, but it doesn't really have an effect on me, so I don't get the full extent of it. But I'll keep speaking out as that is all I can do.

This is so upsetting! I can't believe in 1 week what this man has done to America. Im not in your shoes or your dh's but know that most Americans don't want this for our country. I keep trying to reassure myself that even though he won the electoral college he didn't win the popular vote and that means there are more level headed people in this country than crazies.

I am sad and scared.
I live in Queens. The diversity in my workplace, neighborhood and DDs school makes me feel good but i do not feel safe with our new government

I feel so sad today
I wish I could go to some of the protests tonight, or the emergency hearing in downtown Brooklyn, but at 20 weeks pregnant I don't think it's he best idea. But my heart is with everyone who is there.

I feel so sad today
I have a colleague whose family is from the Middle East. She and her husband started researching getting Pakistani citizenship when he won the nomination. They have put in all their papers and are getting ready to flee the United States. They are both US citizens, to naturalized parents, but because they are Muslim, they feel they have no choice but to have a plan to take their two kids and flee.

Re: I feel so sad today
I have no words for what has happened to this once great, fair and decent nation in the matter of one week. Just one week! This is not the country my grandparents struggled and fought to immigrate to. I am beside myself.

This is so sad to hear. Wtf!!! Wtf have you done America?! Shame on you!!! You should be so fukcing ashamed of yourself America!!! That your own fellow countrymen feel they need to flee their country to be safe is so sad but you don't care. You are too consumed with hate and fear to give a shit. America has become synonymous with hate.

I feel so sad today
I feel as I'm just going through the motions. Everything in my day to day life is same old but I feel as if I'm treading water but I'm starting to drown.
This is how I felt when my daughter was in picu and I had to put on a brave face for DD1 but inside my head is just chaos and there was nothing I could physically do to help DD2. I don't know if this makes sense.

I feel so sad today
I never thought that I'd be one of those people sitting by, watching it unfold on tv. I am so sorry that your loved ones (and Kris your DH) can't feel secure in this country that was founded on taking in refugees. my aunt and I sat and cried today as the news just got worse and worse.

Re: I feel so sad today
I think the feelings are normal for those of us who see what is really going on. The threat is real. Nothing about any of this is right. I am so, so sad.

Re: I feel so sad today
Anyone else feel weird about the fact that this stuff is so consuming and affects us all so much, and discussing it is relegated to the "politics" board?
This stuff is literally everything.

Seriously. If this isn't an issue of families helping families, I don't know what is.
